Lion felt the youthful energy surging within him. He looked up at the ferocious Angron and smiled with confidence.
"Angron, I have everything I need now."
"It's time to settle this."
Angron beat his crimson wings and roared as he dove from the sky.
"Blood for the Blood God! Skulls for the Skull Throne!"
The Scarlet Angel's roar was terrifying, stirring the most primal emotions in every living being. Driven by uncontrollable rage, he fell into a frenzy of slaughter.
Angron's flight speed was astonishing. Behind him trailed a long, blood-red streak of terrifying Warp energy. He raised his chainaxe high, the chaotic flames flowing along the blade stretching into a blazing ribbon of light from the sheer speed of his dive.
Angron unleashed a powerful slash with the force of a falling meteor. Its power was so immense it could split mountains, tear the earth apart, and reduce anything it touched to dust.
Lion bent his knees slightly and lowered his body. He raised the Emperor's Shield high with his left hand and met his former brother's ferocious attack head-on.
BOOM!!!
A violent shockwave erupted along with terrifying energy. The light was so blinding it was impossible to look at directly.
The intense shockwave tore everything around them from the ground, cracked the earth, and sent rubble flying. Soldiers and daemons fighting nearby were caught in the blast and sent flying.
The recoil knocked the Scarlet Angel off balance, sending him crashing violently into a group of tanks engaged in battle. Explosions erupted, flames shot upward, and shrapnel scattered in all directions.
Angron crawled out from the twisted metal, roaring. The rage in his eyes burned even more fiercely.
He suddenly reached out, grabbed a heavy Predator tank beside him, and lifted it as if it were a toy despite its thick alloy armor. With all his strength, he hurled it at Lion.
The tank roared through the air with an ear-splitting sonic boom. Lion dodged. The tank slammed into the rubble behind him and exploded into a fireball.
Angron threw another, then a third, fourth, and fifth…
Lion kept dodging, his movements so fast they left afterimages. Heavy tanks roared past him and crashed into the ruins behind, erupting in flames.
Before they could catch their breath, another tank came flying with a sharp whistling sound.
This time, Lion did not dodge.
With a roar, he gripped his golden lightning-wreathed longsword with both hands and swung it fiercely at the incoming tank.
The blade traced a perfect arc through the air, crackling with electrical arcs. Sword and tank collided with a dull roar.
A sharp, clear cutting sound rang out.
The heavy Predator tank was sliced cleanly in two by Lion. The neatly severed halves flew past him and crashed into the ground behind, spinning several times before stopping.
In the next instant, Angron pounced, his massive wings spreading a deep shadow.
His dive was even faster and more imposing than before. Chaotic flames gushed from the chainaxe forged of Warp iron, tearing through space.
Lion once again sidestepped the lethal attack. At the same time, he seized the opening and smashed the Emperor's Shield into the back of Angron's head.
BANG!!!
A dull, heavy, powerful impact.
Angron's head snapped forward violently. He lost his balance and crashed into a wall like a falling star.
The tall wall, made of massive stone and metal structures, collapsed instantly before his eyes as if it were made of paper.
Tons of rubble and steel beams fell, burying Angron.
Lion stared at the small pile of rubble, hoping it would temporarily quell Angron's rage.
But he had overestimated the situation.
The next instant, a loud explosion rang out and the rubble pile detonated.
Amid terrifying flames and flying debris, Angron burst out from the rubble. His entire body was enveloped in a blood-red phantom, his eyes burning with terrifying fury.
The Crimson Angel's aura had grown even more intense and madness-filled than before.
Rejuvenated, Lion fought without fear, growing even more ferocious. He took the initiative to attack Angron, swinging his longsword and striking indiscriminately with the shield in both hands.
Their attacks were like a raging storm, wave after wave crashing in without a single moment of pause.
Angron tried to counterattack but was repelled each time. His chainaxe was blocked by the longsword, and his massive body was pushed back by the shield.
The two primordial beings fought fiercely amid the ruins, each giving everything to kill the other.
Every time their weapons clashed, violent shockwaves erupted, destroying everything in their path.
Their roars caused nearby soldiers to cover their ears and collapse in pain.
The Primarchs moved so fast they were barely visible. Only faint sounds could be heard as everything around them was rapidly reduced to rubble.
Despite the power of the Warp and Khorne's constant blessings, Lion consistently suppressed Angron.
The Crimson Angel grew furious and swung his chainaxe wildly, but it was nothing more than an angry outburst born of helplessness. He no longer had the power to reverse his defeat.
...
Deep beneath the surface of Longrin, the corrupted Caliban, Vashtorr was striving to become a god.
Before him stood the Dissonance Engine — the device formed by the fusion of three sacred artifacts: the Heart of Plague, the Tuchulcha Engine, and the Ouroboros.
Countless fragments flew in from all directions, merging into the harmonious engine as if it were alive.
The vibrations emitted by the engine grew stronger and stronger, like the heartbeat of a giant. Each pulse shook the entire Longrin, causing the ground to tremble violently.
Massive cracks like fissures appeared on the planet's surface. Evil light erupted from the earth, illuminating the entire battlefield.
The energy readings on the instruments had risen to dangerous levels.
It was almost complete. Truly just one step away.
Vashtorr was incredibly excited, screaming internally.
Once the Dissonance Engine was fully assembled, he would be able to locate the great treasures left by the ancient saints and learn the secrets to becoming a god.
Ironically, the appearance of the nameless one had actually improved the situation.
Without the nameless one, the Chaos Gods would never have allowed Vashtorr to attempt ascension to godhood. But the nameless one had suppressed Khorne, Tzeentch, Nurgle, and Slaanesh far too much.
Only then did they implicitly permit Vashtorr to search for the three great artifacts and assemble the Dissonance Engine — solely to relieve the pressure caused by the nameless ones.
If I can become a god, I'll give you a huge reward.
Vashtorr imagined the future and hummed a Warp melody.
As the Dissonance Engine operated more intensely, the vibrations it emitted became increasingly terrifying, shaking the planet's surface.
Countless daemons poured into the material world through dimensional rifts, joining the bloody battle.
They let out terrifying roars and madly attacked the Corpse Emperor's servants the moment they spotted them.
Furthermore, something even more horrifying was happening on Longrin.
Massive tentacles made of twisted cables and muscle suddenly emerged from a nearby rift. The tentacles were thick enough to engulf entire buildings, their surfaces covered in sticky liquid.
They swung violently through the air, continuously attacking the Emperor's servants within range.
A terrifying rift swept by dark winds suddenly appeared, as if connected to an abyss of despair, constantly emitting sounds of pain and hopelessness.
Khorne upon his brass throne, Tzeentch in the depths of the Labyrinth of Change, Nurgle in his garden mansion, and Slaanesh in the Palace of Slaanesh — all wore expressions of delight.
Vashtorr was extremely capable. He had actually succeeded in creating a Dissonance Engine.
Perhaps he really could avoid the curse and become another Chaos God in the Warp.
Long suppressed by the nameless ones, they could finally hold their heads high and once again demonstrate the power of the Warp.
"Hahaha! The path to godhood has opened! I will climb step by step and become a Chaos God! And the supreme ruler!"
Vashtorr felt the gushing energy of the Dissonance Engine and could not hide the smile on his face.
Once the Dissonance Engine was assembled, all that remained was to find the secret vault of the ancient sages. Then his wish would be granted and he would ascend to godhood.
However, the moment Vashtorr finished speaking, Datch charged into the battle leading Skarbrand, the C'tan fragment, the Masque, and other Warp creatures.
Chaos traitors and daemons who tried to stop them were torn apart, their remains scattered across the blood-soaked, gruesome scene.
"Nameless One, what are you doing here?"
Vashtorr was surprised to see the newcomer.
But he quickly put on a smug smile.
The Dissonance Engine would soon be complete.
Even if it was the nameless one, what could he possibly do?
"Hahaha, Nameless One! It's too late!"
"The Dissonance Engine has been successfully assembled. Even you cannot change anything now."
Datch ignored the arrogant NPC and turned his gaze to the Dissonance Engine.
This evil creation, formed by the fusion of three evil artifacts, had a golden exclamation mark floating above it, indicating it was a story item.
Datch took the Effect Reversal Dart from his game inventory.
[Item: Effect Reversal Dart]
Effect: The item struck by the dart has its effects reversed.
Review: "A magical item that reverses the effects of any item and even changes the item's personality!"
Datch readied the dart and seized the moment while Vashtorr was being held back by Skarbrand and the other greater daemons.
With a light flick, it flew like a living creature and accurately struck the core of the Dissonance Engine, which was constantly undulating and emitting fluctuations.
The next instant, golden light erupted.
It was not the eerie, unsettling contradictory glow unique to the Warp. Instead, it was a golden radiance symbolizing hope and the future, gushing from the Dissonance Engine like a flood breaking through a dam.
The light was so bright and dazzling that anyone who looked directly at it instinctively closed their eyes.
The golden light spread with a strange pulsation, erupting from cracks in the ground.
The daemons that had spilled into the material world let out ear-splitting screams the moment they touched the golden light.
Their bodies, enveloped in the golden light, inexplicably burst into flames and transformed into torches writhing and screaming in agony.
An inexplicable murmur echoed around them. Listening closely, one could hear bland, boring content.
"Holy Nameless One…"
"Supreme Nameless One…"
"Savior of all things…" "..."
Like purifying flames, the golden light set ablaze the daemons that had set foot on the surface of the Longrin.
Countless daemons screamed in agony within the flames. Their bodies turned to ash, not even bones remaining, and they were banished back to the Warp.
The Warp creatures, including Skarbrand and the Masque, were unaffected by the golden light. On the contrary, they gained a sacred aura after being baptized by it.
Vashtorr stood frozen in shock, staring blankly at the scene unfolding before him.
What was happening?
How could the Dissonance Engine emit such holy golden light?!
The nameless one had forcibly twisted the Dissonance Engine and bent it to his will.
"No… How is this possible?!"
Vashtorr finally understood what had happened and cried out in anguish.
His voice was filled with terrifying despair, rage, and disbelief.
The non-existence of the Dissonance Engine was extremely important for this system to reach god-level status.
Countless efforts had been required to reach this point — gathering the three sacred relics and countless fragments.
Success had been right before his eyes when the nameless one intervened and completely twisted the harmonious flow with a single gesture.
All his efforts had been in vain, and everything had turned in the opponent's favor.
A robbery!
The nameless one was a despicable robber!
The Chaos Gods watching this battle were also stunned.
The Dissonance Engine had been forcibly twisted and corrupted by the nameless one, transformed into a holy engine.
Did this mean the cursed ones could continue pushing forward with that detestable Webway project?
They were isolated from the material universe and could no longer influence it.
How hateful! How hateful! How utterly hateful!
"That damned Abaddon… Was this his doing?"
In the Labyrinth of Change, Tzeentch watched the structure of fate before him collapse and vanish in rage, instinctively suspecting Abaddon was the culprit.
The Dissonance Engine had been stolen by the Imperium and transformed into a holy engine.
This event had gone beyond the predetermined framework of fate and shaken the very foundation of destiny.
Abaddon had many problems.
Previously, sending the nameless one into a time rift had resulted in that person gaining time-travel abilities and completely disrupting the past.
When this unique stronghold, the Horus Heresy, was destroyed, the rifts created by the nameless ones in the past would tear into the present and deal severe damage to the Chaos Gods.
Now they had searched for relics with Vashtorr and rebuilt the Dissonance Engine, only to end up benefiting the Imperium.
As long as Abaddon was involved, the Imperium somehow always ended up with good results.
Destroying Planet Cadia and creating a massive rift should have made the Imperium's defeat inevitable.
Yet the nameless ones inexplicably appeared and supported the Imperium's winning streak.
Then came Guilliman's return, Sanguinius's return…
Abaddon needed to be thoroughly investigated. There was definitely something wrong with him!
...
"What?! That's possible??"
"The Nameless One is amazing."
Seated on the Golden Throne of Terra, the Emperor witnessed the events on Longrin and quietly gave the nameless one a thumbs-up in approval.
...
On the surface of Longrin, after the Dissonance Engine reversed its rotation, Angron also lost the support of the Warp. His movements became noticeably slower.
The blood-red phantom enveloping him gradually faded.
Lion dodged Angron's axe and seized the opening to charge forward, smashing the Emperor's Shield into his opponent's head with all his strength.
BANG!!!
A dull, deep, powerful impact rang out.
Angron's head snapped backward. He lost his balance and collapsed to the ground.
Lion pounced on him.
He gripped the Emperor's Shield tightly with both hands, raised it high, and brought it down onto the ground.
The blows rained down mercilessly on Angron's head. The force was immense, cracking and shattering bone repeatedly.
Lion's movements did not stop. He continued attacking until he finally pulverized Angron's head and banished him back to the Warp.
The anomaly that occurred on Longrin triggered a chain reaction. Daemons were forcibly banished to the Warp, and the evil sorcery of Chaos sorcerers lost its power.
The isolated traitors became targets for slaughter by the Imperial forces.
Abaddon, who had been confident of victory until then, flew into a rage the moment he received the news.
Damn it, he shouldn't have believed Vashtorr's half-baked plan.
Not only had they suffered heavy losses this time, but the Imperium of Man would also obtain the secret treasures created by the ancient sages.
If they used them to repair the Webway, the national power of the Imperium of Man would increase unimaginably.
The furious Despoiler terrified everyone on the bridge of the Vengeful Spirit.
The Chaos lords were so frightened they hesitated to breathe, fearing they would be noticed and torn apart.
Vashtorr returned to the Vengeful Spirit in a miserable state.
After reversing the Dissonance Engine, the nameless one stood there in a daze.
Skarbrand and the other summoned creatures allowed Vashtorr to teleport away without receiving any orders.
In their view, Vashtorr was no threat, and his escape was not a major issue.
"You tricked me!" Abaddon roared at Vashtorr in fury.
"It was the nameless one. His methods are far too strange."
He took out the dart and twisted the Dissonance Engine.
Vashtorr's voice was filled with despair.
Losing the chance to become a god was a far greater blow than losing Abaddon.
The nameless one again. How long was this man going to keep doing this…? So many of my plans have been ruined…
Abaddon furiously destroyed the strategic console.
A terrifying sound echoed across the bridge. Everyone fell silent.
Regaining his composure, Abaddon ordered a retreat to preserve as much of his forces as possible.
As the Vengeful Spirit withdrew from the battlefield, the Chaos forces were completely defeated. They suffered relentless pursuit by the Imperial forces and ultimately retreated into the Warp.
The Imperial forces achieved a great victory. Datch also received the mission completion notification.
Mission Complete. Congratulations on stopping the evil conspiracy of Abaddon and Vashtorr!
[Mission Rewards: 5,000 Experience Points, 5,000 Points, +1,500 Reputation, Puppet Ray Gun ×1]
With a single thought, the Puppet Ray Gun appeared in Datch's hand.
The gun body was forged entirely from an unknown silver-white metal, with faint blue light patterns flowing across its surface.
The muzzle was not a traditional circle but a complex polygonal structure composed of more than ten precise metal petals.
The metal petals rotated slowly, as if they were devices storing energy.
On the upper part of the gun was a palm-sized holographic screen where various parameters could be set and the size of the doll adjusted.
"This looks pretty high-tech."
Datch sighed a couple of times, then stored the obtained item in his game inventory.
Just then, footsteps approached. Lion appeared along with Azrael, Ezekiel, and other high-ranking Dark Angels.
Upon seeing the Dissonance Engine pulsing like a heart, they were all surprised but quickly regained their composure, their expressions unchanged.
Lion walked to the console, examined the programs and system descriptions, and planned to study them thoroughly before restarting the Webway project.
