[1 week later...]
Swoosh!
Akira jumped onto a building, his figure blurring as he ran towards the gates of the Jujutsu compound. Chasing him from behind was Maki, her eyes focused as she tried to catch up.
"Tch! What the hell is up with this guy's speed?" Maki cursed under her breath as she felt sweat slide down her back, causing her clothes to stick to her fair skin.
It has been a week since Akira became a Jujutsu Sorcerer training under Gojo, and the two of them have had many spar sessions, each ending wiht her defeat at Akira's hands.
Looking back at Maki over his shoulder, Akira smirked as he slowed down his speed, jumping onto another rooftop in the process, with Maki catching up to him.
"Not bad, Maki. But when you step forward, you take a breath every time. This slows you down for an instance, giving you a weakness." Akira instructed, causing Maki to click her tongue in annoyance.
Taking a deep breath, Maki sped up. This time, she breathed rhythmically, causing her speed to be slightly faster than before, without any wind-ups to take a breath in the middle of stepping.
Swoosh!
Maki lunged forward, her lower leg going for a sweeping motion, trying to take Akira's legs out from under him. Akira jumped over her leg, before spinning in the air, the heel of his foot slamming into her chest.
"Shit!"
Maki cursed, barely managing to cross her arms in front of her chest. But the force still swept her off her feet, throwing her off the rooftop towards the ground.
Spinning in midair to slow her descent, Maki managed to barely land on her foot, squating to lessen the impact on her legs. Maki looked up, only to see Akira diving down with a falcon kick.
Bang!
Maki coughed up air as the kick crashed into her chest, but she was only on her back, the injury not serious at all. Akira pulled back the force at the last second, saving her from taking a trip to Shoko.
"Hmph! You deserve that kick, taking up the time of Akira when we could be training together..." Watching from the sidelines with her arms crossed under her breasts, Yuka threw a satisfied glare at Maki, her lips curled into a smug grin.
Maki caught the look, and she glared back. Great, she now had to deal with a jealous girlfriend, just what she had planned for her years at Tokyo Jujutsu High.
"Hey, does it hurt badly? If it does, I could take you to Shoko sensei." Stepping in front of Maki, Akira put out his hand while asking with concern.
He pulled back force from his kick since he didn't wanna hurt her for real, but he still injured her, since Maki would think he looked down on her otherwise.
He doesn't get why she wants to get hurt every time they spar. Is she a masochist, or does she want to feel pain?
"I'm fine, this is just a bruise, it'll be gone by the next morning," Maki looked up at Akira, noting the concern in his eyes, and she clicked her tongue before taking his hand. Akira pulled her up, and Maki instantly walked away.
She hates seeing the concern in those red eyes, since it always makes her feel as if Akira was actually concerned for her... Which he might be, but she hates it.
No one ever showed her concern except for Mai; they had only known each other for a week. Why would someone be worried about her?
"A hint of good-willed advice, never take your eyes off your opponent, Maki-chan~," Maki looked back with a glare at Gojo, who immediately hid behind Akira wiht a giggle.
"Yeah, taking your eyes off your opponent results in a kick to the chest~," Joining Gojo, Yuka chuckled with a gentle and kind face as she spoke, leaning down a bit with her hands clasped behind her back.
"Ugh!" Maki rolled her eyes at Yuka's obvious ragebait, sitting down on a bench before taking a water bottle and taking a drink from it.
Seeing that everyone was finished with training, Gojo stood upright, clapping his hands to attract the attention of the three.
"Next week, two new students will be joining you, so no training for tomorrow. Today's training session ends here. Take care, you three, and don't wander too far off~," Gojo finished with a thumbs up, before teleporting away the next second.
Akira sighed deeply as he turned to Yuka, who immediately walked next to him, taking his hand into hers, her fingers interlocking with his own. Akira smiled, feeling the slightly cool and slender fingers.
"What's up?" Akira asked with raised eyebrow, and Yuka giggled before reaching behind her and into her pocket. Taking out a small box, Yuka blushed lightly before handing it to Akira.
"What's this?" Taking the box, Akira turned this Demon Brain off, not wanting to ruin the surprise.
"Well, remember your birthday when you turned 14? I didn't have money to buy you a gift back then... This is that gift," Yuka looked down at her fingers locked with Akira's, her eyes shining with a soft light.
Akira smiled, shaking his head at how cute Yuka looked. He let go of her hand, causing Yuka to pout, before reaching up and opening the tiny box in his hand.
Click~
"A ring? Yuka, did you steal this from your parents?" Akira looked up with confusion as he took out the ring from the box. The ring was made from silver, and on top was a tiny diamond that shone under the light.
Hearing his question, Yuka was not concerned.
"As far as I'm concerned, they don't need it. Besides, I already have a ring from Rika, and now you have a ring from me! Isn't that great?" Yuka smiled, looking up at Akira's face, her hand holding the ring attached to a chain around her neck.
With a sigh, Akir had no choice but to slowly slide the ring onto his right ring finger. He didn't wanna make Yuka sad, and she would definitely be sad if he didn't place it on his finger.
"Looks like I'll have to find you a birthday gift as well, especially since I didn't give you anything for your 15th birthday..." Looking down at Yuka, Akira spoke with a smile, his arms wrapping around her gently before pulling her flush against his chest.
Leaning down, Akira placed a tiny peck on Yuka's forehead, causing the girl to vibrate from joy as she tightened her arms around Akira's waist, looking up at him with shining eyes.
"What the hell did I just witness?"
Watching this from the bench, Maki squinted her eyes at the sight, her ears slightly red from embarrassment.m She had never seen something like this before, and it made her embarrassed.
