Chapter 28 - chapter 27

THE LAST STAND OF THE GUARDIANS

The Frozen Fortress shook with a force unlike anything the heirs had experienced before.

The walls cracked.

The ceiling rained ice.

Ancient bells echoed through every corridor, warning that the fortress had been breached.

The Final Archive was no longer safe.

Orion tightened his grip on the silver sword.

His crimson eyes scanned the approaching army of Seekers.

Hundreds of soldiers filled the throne hall.

Behind them stood the Elite Seekers, silent and motionless.

They had only one goal.

Destroy the Final Archive.

Erase the last remaining truth.

Kael stepped beside Orion.

"So..."

He smirked despite the danger.

"Looks like we're fighting together."

Orion looked at him.

"You survived."

Kael smiled.

"I've survived worse."

Elias slowly drew his ancient blade.

Lyra summoned silver light around her hands.

Selene stood beside Queen Aurelia's crystal throne.

For the first time in centuries...

The protectors of Aurelia stood united.

Riva looked around.

"This isn't just our battle anymore."

"No," Elias replied.

"It never was."

Without another word—

The Seekers attacked.

The first wave charged like a black tide.

Orion moved first.

His sword flashed once.

A silver arc cut through the air.

Five Seekers fell before anyone even saw him move.

Aarvi stared in disbelief.

"He's fast..."

"No," Kael answered.

"He's remembering."

The battle erupted.

Eva's compass floated above her hand, projecting glowing symbols that revealed enemy movements before they attacked.

"Left!"

She shouted.

Parna raised both hands.

The frozen ground trembled.

Massive roots burst through the ancient stone floor.

Everyone froze.

"Roots?" Aarvi asked.

"In frozen ground?"

Parna smiled.

"Life never truly disappears."

The roots wrapped around dozens of Seekers, pulling them underground.

Riva's visions returned.

She saw flashes of attacks seconds before they happened.

"Behind you!"

Kael turned just in time to block an Elite Seeker's strike.

He glanced toward Riva.

"Your gift is getting stronger."

The battle spread throughout the fortress.

Explosions of silver and crimson energy illuminated every hallway.

The Seekers never stopped coming.

For every one that fell...

Two more arrived.

Then something unexpected happened.

The Final Archive began glowing.

Every crystal inside the chamber floated into the air.

Thousands of memories surrounded the battlefield.

Ancient kings.

Forgotten kingdoms.

Lost civilizations.

The Archive was defending itself.

One crystal suddenly floated toward Eva.

When she touched it—

A map appeared.

Not of the fortress.

Not of Aurelia.

But of the entire world.

Several glowing stars appeared.

Most had gone dark.

Only one remained bright.

The Frozen Fortress.

Eva's face turned pale.

"This is the last one..."

Kael immediately understood.

"The others have already fallen."

Before anyone could ask what he meant—

A deafening roar echoed through the fortress.

The walls exploded inward.

A creature larger than any Guardian stepped into the hall.

Nearly forty feet tall.

Its armor was completely black.

Its eyes burned with silver fire.

Even the Elite Seekers stepped aside.

They feared it.

The monster carried an enormous sword carved with ancient symbols.

Selene whispered one name.

"The Executioner..."

Queen Aurelia's expression changed.

"I hoped it would never awaken."

The giant creature looked directly at Orion.

Then it spoke.

"Guardian Orion..."

"Your judgment is incomplete."

Orion's eyes widened.

"It remembers me..."

The Executioner slowly raised its sword.

"I was ordered to finish what was started."

The room fell silent.

"What was started?" Riva asked.

No one answered.

The Executioner attacked.

Its sword crashed into the floor.

The impact split the throne hall in half.

Everyone jumped away.

The fortress groaned.

Another strike like that—

And the Final Archive would collapse.

Orion charged.

Their swords collided.

Silver and black light exploded across the chamber.

The shockwave threw everyone backward.

Kael struggled to remain standing.

"So..."

He muttered.

"That's the monster I was hoping never to meet."

Orion blocked another devastating strike.

Each collision shook the mountain.

The Executioner was unbelievably powerful.

For the first time...

Orion was being pushed backward.

The Four Heirs watched helplessly.

"If Orion loses..."

Eva whispered.

"The fortress falls."

Riva looked at the glowing artifacts.

The pendant.

The compass.

The mysterious box.

Parna's emerald mark.

They were glowing together again.

The same way they had inside the Star Archive.

Aurelia noticed.

"Your powers..."

"They're synchronizing."

The Four Heirs instinctively reached toward one another.

The moment their hands touched—

A brilliant pillar of light erupted from the center of the fortress.

The entire mountain shook.

The symbols across the walls illuminated.

The Final Archive awakened completely.

Then a calm voice echoed throughout the chamber.

"Synchronization complete."

"Star Heirs recognized."

A hidden doorway opened beneath the crystal throne.

Cold silver light poured from the passage.

Queen Aurelia looked toward the Four Heirs.

"The Final Archive has accepted you."

"But only one of you may enter."

The heirs stared at one another in confusion.

"One?" Aarvi asked.

"Why only one?"

Before Aurelia could answer—

The Executioner unleashed another devastating attack.

Orion was thrown across the hall.

His sword slid across the frozen floor.

For the first time...

The Guardian had fallen.

The Executioner slowly walked toward him.

Raising its enormous blade.

Preparing the final strike.

Riva's heart pounded.

Everything depended on what happened next.
