Kamar-Taj — The Stillness After Wrath
High in the mountains of Kamar-Taj, the air trembled.
Not with violence—
But with aftermath.
The Ancient One opened her eyes slowly.
She had felt it.
Not magic.
Not time.
Authority.
She turned toward the Eye of Agamotto.
"It has passed," she said calmly.
Moments later, a presence answered her call.
Agamotto listened in silence as she explained.
When she finished—
He sighed.
"An idiot," Agamotto said flatly.
Of all beings in existence—
There were perhaps three one should never anger.
And the Phoenix Monarch stood among them.
"I am relieved," Agamotto continued, "that it is over."
The Ancient One nodded.
"So is the universe."
Wakanda — The Goddess Speaks
In Wakanda's throne room, sunlight filtered through ancient stone and vibranium.
T'Challa stood proudly beside his father, T'Chaka.
Nearby, Shuri leaned forward with curiosity, tablet forgotten in her hands.
Then—
A presence filled the room.
Warm.
Ancient.
Regal.
Bast, the Panther Goddess, revealed herself.
T'Challa bowed instantly.
T'Chaka followed.
Shuri hesitated only a second before doing the same.
"Great Bast," T'Challa said, "we felt… something."
Bast's golden eyes glowed softly.
"You felt the wrath of the Phoenix Monarch."
Shuri blinked. "The who?"
T'Challa frowned slightly. "I do not recognize that name."
Neither did T'Chaka.
Bast regarded them carefully.
Then she spoke.
The Legend of the Phoenix Monarch
"Long ago," Bast began,
"before your wars, before your empires…"
"The Kree and the Skrulls, enemies by nature, formed an alliance."
They aided Vanaheim in war against Alfheim and Svartalfheim.
They kidnapped princesses of both realms.
They hid them in a fortress meant to be untouchable.
Bast's voice hardened.
"The Phoenix Monarch came."
No army.
No declaration.
"He burned the fortress."
Not the worlds.
Not the realms.
Just the guilty.
The Kree.
The Skrulls.
Ash.
The princesses were rescued—untouched.
From that day—
The Phoenix Monarch was both feared and revered.
Not Like Other Gods
T'Chaka spoke carefully.
"That sounds no different from how gods are respected."
Bast shook her head.
"No."
Her gaze sharpened.
"He has the power to conquer the universe."
"But he does not."
"He seeks no throne. No worship. No dominion."
"And yet—many pray to him."
Shuri's eyes widened.
"Why?"
"Because he protects," Bast answered.
"And because there is one rule known across the cosmos."
She paused.
"Never anger him."
The Line That Was Crossed
Bast continued.
"He is only angered when someone tries to take what he protects."
"Days ago," she said, "the universe felt it."
"The Phoenix Monarch's anger."
"And the one who caused it—"
Her eyes turned toward Earth.
"—was here."
Silence filled the throne room.
Then Bast spoke again.
"Minutes ago… that person was reduced to ash."
A chill ran down T'Challa's spine.
T'Chaka exhaled slowly.
Shuri, however—
Smiled faintly.
"…I like him," she said.
Both men looked at her.
"He protects his people," Shuri added simply.
"That's admirable."
Bast's expression softened.
"He would approve of that answer."
Arrival
Far away—
A familiar energy pierced Earth's atmosphere.
A woman descended in a streak of light.
Carol Danvers landed silently, scanning the horizon.
She felt it now.
Not rumors.
Not stories.
But certainty.
"The Phoenix Monarch is here," she muttered.
And for the first time—
She wasn't sure if she should be excited.
Or afraid.
