081 The Wisdom of the Masses: Neodymium Magnets

Marcus's luck wasn't great; all three new worlds were dangerous, and Marcus felt he couldn't afford to mess with them.

"Have you stored the spatial coordinates of all three new worlds?" Marcus asked.

"Yes. The spatial coordinates of five worlds have been stored so far, and the host can travel there at any time," the System responded.

Besides the three new worlds he had just explored, he had previously searched for worlds like Pacific Rim and Star Wars, neither of which were easy targets.

Especially the Star Wars world—one wrong move and a planet could be destroyed!

Marcus was drooling over the Death Stars of the Star Wars world. If he could possess one, Marcus said he'd even venture into MCU-199999.

What Chitauri, what Ronan the Accuser, what Thanos the Mad Titan, what the Dark Dimension Lord Dormammu—Marcus wasn't referring to any specific one, but rather that they were all manageable!

Ahem...

Fantasy is wonderful, but let's abandon fantasy and face reality!

Death Stars are too far off; let's first reap the benefits of the Terminator world.

Three days later.

Marcus has moved to Richmond, south of D.C. It's adjacent to the southern part of D.C., outside the nuclear fallout zone. During the Civil War, it was the capital of the Confederate States of America; now, with D.C. shrouded in nuclear dust, it has become the temporary capital.

"Colin, what's the situation outside?" Marcus asked.

"Quite chaotic," Colin replied. "Because it happened so suddenly, the relocation of many organizations is extremely rushed. Coupled with the threat of Terminators, all the leadership is being very cautious."

"Arrange for our people to be fully mobilized to find those Terminators!" Marcus ordered. "By the way, is the new X-Corridor completed?"

Colin nodded affirmatively. "Of course! All organizations have established X-Corridors to prevent Terminator infiltration."

Marcus laughed heartily; these guys had learned their lesson and finally realized the importance of establishing X-Corridors.

"By the way, Boss, while you were away, we found an easier way to identify Terminators," Colin reported.

"Oh?" Marcus looked at Colin with curiosity.

"Magnets!" Colin explained. "With the combination of K-9 units and magnets, our efficiency in identifying Terminators has increased significantly. At the same time, we've been using powerful neodymium magnets to deal with the Terminator T-1000, and the results have been excellent."

Marcus knew about neodymium magnets, but how could they be so effective against the Terminator T-1000?

"Tell me about it," Marcus asked curiously.

"Although neodymium magnets can't completely stop the Terminator T-1000's morphing, they can disrupt its movements. This is because neodymium magnets can firmly adhere to the liquid metal inside the Terminator T-1000, thus interfering with its internal transmission system," Colin explained.

Listening to Colin's explanation, Marcus couldn't help but admire the ingenuity of the people.

"Alright, Colin, give the orders. We need to capture as many Terminators as possible alive. Once captured, contact Ayanami. We can use Ayanami to reprogram the Terminators," Marcus instructed.

"Okay, no problem," Colin agreed.

Colin's team of FBI agents in Los Angeles was highly efficient. After all, they had dealt with Terminators for over twenty years and knew exactly how to handle them.

In less than half an hour, Colin and his men had captured eight Terminators: two T-800s and six T-1000s.

The once-dominant T-1000s were now completely helpless; once discovered, they were subdued by the powerful neodymium magnets, offering no resistance whatsoever.

"Boss, we've encountered a brand new Terminator—it should be the Terminator T-X you mentioned!" Colin contacted Marcus via wireless earpiece.

Marcus replied, "Where are you?"

"We're on 13th Street," Colin responded. "We've already controlled it with neodymium magnets. This new Terminator possesses both the liquid metal properties of the T-1000 and the high-strength alloy endoskeleton of the T-800. Ayanami is already accessing it," Colin reported.

Ayanami reported through the earpiece, "Mr. Foster, I'm attempting to crack the new Terminator's defense system. It should take approximately six minutes."

Ayanami currently holds administrative access to a large number of American supercomputers, not only for destroying Skynet but also for providing powerful assistance in controlling the Terminators.

However, the Skynet bonus is gone!

Back in the Terminator world, each Terminator T-1000 defeated earned 20 Destiny points, but now there are none.

Fortunately, Marcus doesn't need to consume 10 Destiny points to gain the highest level of access to the Terminator T-1000 as before. Ayanami only needs to forcibly crack the Terminator T-1000's defense system, block Skynet's backdoor program, and then transfer the highest level of access to Marcus.

"System, let's chat for a bit. I want to have a serious talk with you. Why is the Skynet bonus gone now?" Marcus asked grumbling.

Before the system could answer, Marcus pressed further, "Could it be that you were skimming those Destiny points?"

The System is being wronged!

'Host, can't you have even a tiny bit of intelligence? The Skynet rewards are gone because Skynet itself almost collapsed—what kind of impact can the Terminator T-1000 have on the River of Fate?' The System is really having a tough time. Despite being bound to Marcus's fate, it's constantly being suspected by Marcus.

Luckily, the binding can't be broken, otherwise the System says it'll need a more reliable host.

Marcus thought about it, and it seemed to make sense.

Skynet itself is almost destroyed, hiding somewhere in the network, trembling with fear, afraid of being discovered by Ayanami.

Under such circumstances, what use is the Terminator T-1000?

To assassinate one or two high-ranking American officials?

While that's certainly possible, it would be almost ineffective.

The American leadership has a large number of backup officials; even if a high-ranking official is killed, a backup official can immediately take their place, so there's practically no loss.

With the extensive use of the X Corridor, the neodymium magnet detection system, and the assistance of K-9 units, the Terminator T-1000's effectiveness is diminishing; it truly cannot cause any ripples in the River of Fate.

"The Terminator T-1000 can at least cause some ripples, right?" Marcus asked unwillingly. As a thrifty and hardworking man, every penny counts, especially precious Destiny points—the more the merrier!

Faced with Marcus's frugal behavior, the System thought it was too difficult. Having such a host was embarrassing even in the system world, wasn't it?
