The request was procedurally legitimate. It cited the charter provision that gave thesis-reviewing faculty access to student work at any stage of the Year Two process, which Bak held as the administrative Master regardless of the two-against-one dynamic on experimental proposal approvals. The inspection provision was separate from the approval authority. It was one of the few levers he had left that existed in clean procedural territory.
