"Wah!" Lior exclaimed happily as his little feet pitter-pattered toward them.
Ezra smiled instinctively, but he already knew he wouldn't be able to catch Lior if the little boy threw himself into his arms.
His stomach still felt unsettled, and even standing for too long had started to wear him out.
He glanced at Kaelis.
Kaelis caught the look immediately.
Without a word, he opened his arms toward Lior. "Come here, Lior."
Lior didn't hesitate for even a second.
He launched himself straight into Kaelis' embrace, giggling as Kaelis caught him effortlessly and lifted him into his arms.
"Energetic now, are we?" Kaelis asked, tilting his head slightly.
Lior burst into another fit of giggles.
"No, just happy!" he exclaimed, his bright orange eyes darting between the two of them. "You're both here so early! Your work is done, Maman? Kaykay?"
"Yes, little one," Ezra replied, smiling as he gently brushed a hand through Lior's hair.
Lior leaned into the touch with a content hum.
