Ezra and Kaelis walked back, with Lior still being carried by Kaelis.
For some reason, after Ezra and Lior made up and decided to head back, Lior insisted on staying in Kaelis' arms again.
They moved slowly with no particular reason.
They just did.
Ezra needed the time. He used each step to gather his thoughts, to steady himself, to hold onto whatever resolve he had left before turning to Kaelis, who still wore that calm, almost peaceful expression.
'How can he still look like that after everything?'
Ezra felt the complete opposite. Everything that happened that day still sat heavily in his chest, pressing down on him.
So he took a breath and spoke.
"I'm in."
"Hm?" Kaelis hummed, his hand moving absentmindedly as he rubbed Lior's back. "You're in?"
