Alpha Kale POV
The carriage wheels groaned against the muddied road, each rotation scraping against my nerves like a fucking dull blade.
I gripped the reins so tight my knuckles was white and the leather biting into my palms.
I was usually a patient person but Grey was out there defenseless. And my mate was beside me crying. I wished she would shut the fuck up already.
I can't hear myself think.
"This is taking too long," I growled through clenched teeth. "I could have reached Greyson by now if I'd shifted. The forest is faster—"
"And what? Carry our unconscious son home while enemies circle your scent?" Mulan's voice sounded angry.
Angry?
What right did she have to be angry at me?
"I'm just saying it's faster —"
"We need the carriage, Kale. We need to be able to transport him"
I snapped my head toward her, my alpha iris flickering.
"I can't believe you left our son unconscious and helpless in an infected territory that has spies and enemies everywhere."
