The Black Dragon jumped down from Jasmine's arms to the ground, then nimbly hopped onto the wooden bed. Using his front paws, he gathered all the beautiful stones and pearls scattered on the bed into a pile, pushing them all right in front of Jasmine. He looked up, trying to please her, and said generously:
"Jasmine, look, are these beautiful? I am giving them all to you!"
Jasmine glanced at the pile of sparkling gifts pushed in front of her. Do not be fooled by their shimmering and quite beautiful appearance; in reality, their value was not high. Even the pearls were of rather low quality and misshapen. Some pearls even had quite a few small cracks on their surface. Clearly, they were not harvested directly from oysters in the deep sea, but were likely picked up on the beach.
