The tour back home felt surprisingly short, mostly because Rai was awake for every single second of it.
It was probably because of the loud, off-key singing vibrating through the bus speakers and the ridiculously cheerful atmosphere that everyone else seemed so eager to maintain.
Rai stayed awake the whole way, leaning against the cold glass of the window, staring out at the blurred highway scenery.
Every now and then, he would turn toward Zade just to complain about the seating, or whatever small thing he could find to grumble about.
But honestly? Beneath all the performative annoyance, Rai had just come to a realization that caught him completely off guard: he actually liked this. He really liked how things were between them now.
