Chapter 118 - Chapter 118: Unexpected Discovery

After a bit of thought, Hope decided to tell Hyberion and Glaston about his ability to use the "Arc of Time."

Although they had only known each other for a short time, Hope's intuition told him that the Academy Head and the teaching elder were trustworthy people.

"The 'Arc of Time'?!"

Glaston was overjoyed. "You actually know this magic?!"

Hope nodded. Seeing Glaston's fanatical gaze, he suddenly felt a bit uneasy. He knew quite a lot of magic, and he was afraid that if he spoke too much, this white-bearded old man might drag him off for dissection.

Glaston also noticed his loss of composure. After a cough to ease the embarrassment, he said, "It's truly fate. I didn't expect Hope to know this magic as well."

Hope raised an eyebrow as a memory of the mysterious person he had used the 'Hugging Sister Kill' on back on Karna Island flashed through his mind. "Could it be that you've seen other Mages who use the 'Arc of Time' before, Senior?"

Glaston nodded. "It's Ultear, a former member of the Council. Her magic is also the 'Arc of Time.' I had originally contacted her to help me research the second magic source, but..."

Everyone present had heard about what happened next.

For assisting Jellal in activating 'Anima' and destroying the Council headquarters in front of a large crowd, Ultear was now the New Council's most wanted fugitive.

After all, she was the only person in hundreds of years to have stepped on the Council's face and rubbed it repeatedly... However, Hope was thinking about something else.

A magic as extremely rare as the 'Arc of Time' shouldn't be mastered by a second person in this world, aside from a cheater like him.

In other words, the mysterious Mage on Karna Island who disguised himself as a short man and incited Lyon to use 'Drops of Moonlight' to unseal Deliora was likely Ultear.

At that time, she was still a high-and-mighty Councilor.

Why would she personally get involved in such a thing?

Jellal only wanted to resurrect the Black Wizard; demons were optional to him, so Ultear's actions on Karna Island didn't have much to do with him.

What other reason could there be for Ultear to go so far as to intervene personally?

Suddenly, Hope remembered that during his last battle with Ultear, she had used ice magic. Although it was only for a moment, Hope was now certain it was 'Ice-Make.'

And Lyon, who was incited by Ultear, was also an Ice-Make Mage, and the former disciple of Ur, the famous Ice-Make Mage of the North.

Wait... Ur... Ultear... Hope suddenly realized. He only now noticed such an obvious clue; that Ultear definitely had a deep connection with Ur!

It seemed he would have to ask Gray if his master had any other family members when he got back.

Eh? Why did his back feel a bit cold?

When Hope snapped out of it, he found the other three looking at him with strange expressions. He subconsciously touched his face. "Is there something on my face?"

Erza: "Nothing on your face."

Glaston: "But a faint humanoid figure appeared behind your back just now."

Hyberion said somewhat seriously, "Hope, have you provoked something unclean recently? The presence behind you just now seemed to be a spirit."

Hope frowned.

You've got to be kidding me. A ghost actually dares to haunt me?

Doesn't it know I have a Pure Yang Body?

But now Hope had an important question. He looked at Erza and the others with a solemn expression. "The ghost shadow behind me just now... was it male or female?"

As soon as these words came out, the three were instantly floored.

Even Hyberion, who always valued his appearance, ignored his image and slumped on the sofa in a 'Ge You Lean.'

Erza pressed her palm to her forehead. If it weren't to save Hope some face, she would have already punched him. Everyone was worried about him, yet this guy was worried about the ghost's gender.

Talk about being ridiculous.

Glaston, being the oldest and most composed, gave a light cough to bring the topic back on track. "Hope, if possible, I would like to ask you to assist me in completing the experiment to unlock the 'second magic source'."

Hope nodded and agreed. His purpose for coming to Mildian Magic Academy, besides collecting magic, was for the "second magic source."

Seeing Hope agree, Glaston added, "Thank you. I will be the test subject for this experiment. Please don't feel too much pressure."

Hope's vision went dark.

Don't feel pressure?

My blood pressure already went up the moment you said that, okay!

What kind of lead researcher acts as their own test subject... Hyberion was also shocked by Glaston's words and immediately tried to dissuade him. "Teacher, you don't need to do it yourself. I am the most suitable for this kind of thing..."

Before Hyberion could finish, Glaston glared at him, and he immediately shut his mouth.

"Hyberion, you are the Head of Mildian Magic Academy and one of Ishgar's Ten Wizard Saints. You carry the responsibility of protecting this continent. Some things are not for you to do, nor can you be allowed to do them, understand?"

Seeing Glaston looking somewhat angry, Hyberion nodded and said no more.

This scene made Hope and Erza feel strange.

But their attention was soon diverted by Glaston. The four of them arrived at the magic research experimental area of the Academy Head's building.

Seeing Glaston lie directly on the experimental table, Hope hesitated. "Senior, how about I do it instead? You said yourself that the process of unlocking the second magic source with time magic would be very painful."

"No need."

Glaston spoke with a calm confidence. "This old man has experienced plenty of pain in his life. How could I fall to such mere pain?"

Seeing the white-bearded old man say so, Hope didn't hold back. Under Hyberion's worried gaze, he activated the "Arc of Time" on Glaston.

Cyan-blue patterns instantly emerged on Glaston's body, acting on the magic power within him through his flesh.

Then... Glaston's series of classic Tom Cat screams echoed throughout the entire Academy Head's building.

Fifteen minutes later, Glaston fainted on the experimental table with foam at his mouth, but the magic power in his body was about one-third more than before.

The second magic source experiment was complete.

As for the process... Hyberion looked at the embarrassed Hope. "Don't worry, Teacher already expected this situation. The experiment was a success. Thank you."

"The third floor of the Academy Head's building has guest rooms. You and Erza go rest first. It's not convenient for me here, so please excuse me."

Hope didn't say much and left the experimental area with Erza.

After the two left, Glaston on the experimental table opened his eyes, sat up, and gave Hyberion a bitter smile. "I really made a fool of myself. The pain almost made me pee. If I had known it would be this painful, I would have let you do it."

Hyberion shrugged. "It's because you're too stubborn, Teacher."

Glaston smiled faintly. "True. Being too stubborn makes me blind to my own mistakes. Otherwise, I wouldn't have ended up with you breaking my leg..."

"By the way, that young man named Hope is not simple."

"For tomorrow's Magic Exchange, call those problematic instructors to the field as well. Let that kid help give them a lesson."
