Looking at the first Corrupted, he launched his attack.
Arriving above the jackal, the creature somehow managed to avoid his attack and release a blast of infernal fire that forced him to jump.
At that instant, something landed on his back. Turning, he saw the six-armed humanoid unleash a claw swipe that he managed to block with his swords, being sent to the ground.
His body impacted the ground, creating a crater that kicked up dust. Moving through the darkness, he appeared behind the silver-backed creature, delivering a slash with his Wyvern sword, leaving a deep wound.
'So this creature doesn't have as good instincts as the other two,' Uriel thought, avoiding being grabbed by the Corrupted Devil.
The gorilla raised both arms, slamming them against the ground, creating ice spikes in a straight line. Uriel, standing on the gorilla's head, launched his Transcendent sword, which embedded itself deep into the abomination's skull.
[You have killed a Corrupted Devil, Freezing Gorilla]
Uriel didn't allow himself to relax when the jackal and the humanoid appeared.
Both monsters could track his movements despite being surrounded by true darkness.
The jackal opened its jaws, orange flames beginning to form, while the humanoid's hair tensed up.
Uriel clicked his tongue.
Both monsters attacked at the same time. The jackal unleashed a powerful sea of flames, and the humanoid rained sharp tentacles made of hair down upon Uriel.
Uriel was pulled out of the attack by someone. Looking closely, he noticed it was his Dark Knight, who had pulled him out of the trajectory at the last moment.
His Transcendent Devil landed on the ground at the edge of the black barrier, where dozens upon dozens of dead Fallen abominations lay.
Uriel summoned his Wyvern's Fang again, holding it in his hand. He also summoned the Captain's Sword. His Devil only created a bow and arrows to attack from a distance as support.
Uriel looked at the humanoid. He needed to eliminate them quickly and join the main battle. He had a very bad feeling.
None of his Echoes had been destroyed, but he didn't know how long they would last in combat.
Uriel transformed. Using darkness, he created a Dark Manifestation of an enormous serpent, which slithered at tremendous speed toward the humanoid Corrupted Devil, while his Dark Knight dealt with the jackal.
Slithering toward the humanoid, it leaped, launching several fur tendrils against the serpent, piercing its body. But this didn't stop the serpent, which opened its jaws, revealing sharp fangs that closed around the creature's body.
The Nightmare Creature silently created more tendrils, stabbing them into the black serpent's body. Its furious white eyes glared.
The tendrils pierced and tore off large chunks of darkness, which reformed the next instant.
The black serpent closed its jaw tighter, its fangs reaching the bone.
Inside the Dark Manifestation, Uriel applied more pressure until the bone finally gave way, snapping in two.
The creature trembled before going motionless. Uriel, leaving nothing to chance, bit the creature's head, tearing it off with one bite.
[You have killed a Corrupted Devil, Puppeteer]
At the same time, the Spell's voice whispered again.
[You have killed a Corrupted Demon, Desert Scavenger]
'It seems the Knight killed the jackal,' Uriel thought, dispelling the dome of darkness, letting light fill the previously dark space.
When the dome dissipated, Uriel watched as the battle continued. The human army looked smaller. More and more abominations kept arriving through the mountains.
Creating a large black scythe, Uriel swung it, cutting multiple Nightmare Creatures. His Dark Knight launched itself back into battle; its speed and strength allowed it to quickly destroy the Nightmare Creatures.
Once Uriel joined the combat, the human side's advantage began to solidify, and the monsters were forced to lose ground rapidly.
The army of Awakened, as well as the Irregular cohort, formed an advanced front that repelled the monsters.
Uriel continued eliminating monsters with his enormous scythe before returning to normal, still holding his Wyvern's Fang.
Uriel communicated with Gunlaug.
"Gunlaug, ignore the threat in the sky. Go to the ocean and eliminate the Fallen Titan," Uriel ordered.
Gunlaug let out a roar, throwing the flying abomination far away before turning and flying rapidly toward the ocean.
At the same time, Uriel summoned the Water Pearl, which materialized in his hand.
He quickly headed toward where Randal was.
Uriel appeared before the Master, who was injured, bandaging a large cut on his arm.
"Master Randal, do you think you can hold on for a few more minutes?"
"What do you think, brat?" Randal asked with a smile.
Uriel looked at the situation. The army was continuously shrinking. Almost an hour had passed since everything began.
"I just need five minutes. There's a Fallen Terror and a Titan that I have to kill."
Randal nodded.
"Do it. We'll buy as much time as we can."
"Thank you." Without saying more, Uriel entered the darkness, spending more essence. Once he reached the other end of Camp Erebus, which faced the ocean, he ate several peaches, recovering some essence, then put the Water Pearl in his mouth and, without hesitation, jumped into the dark water.
The cold water cleaned the sweat from his body. His vision adapted instantly, seeing Gunlaug beginning a battle against Goliath while in the distance was something resembling an enormous white tree. Uriel felt the mental attack, which Soul countered, combined with his Supreme-rank Memory, eliminating it.
Altering his form, Uriel transformed into an enormous fifty-meter black sea serpent, which launched itself forward against the Terror of LO49.
The Terror, sensing him, sent all the abominations that followed it to stop him, but Uriel had no time to waste. In a display of power, his teeth made of manifested darkness opened, tearing through the corrupted humans and abominations with absurd ease.
His speed was like lightning, reducing the distance between him and the Terror in seconds.
The Terror sent its bandage-like white tentacles to stop him. Dodging nimbly, Uriel accelerated even more. When he was close enough, he crashed into the Terror's body, sending it to the depths of the seabed.
Discarding his Dark Manifestation, he summoned White Flower and, without hesitation, stabbed the heart of the humanoid figure with a deformed, mummified face.
As he pierced the creature's heart, the Spell's voice resonated in his mind.
[You have killed a Corrupted Terror, The Profaned Sibyl of Fallen Grace]
[You have obtained a Memory]
Uriel smiled, then turned his head, looking at Gunlaug, who had managed to tear off one of Goliath's arms.
Uriel calculated how much essence he had left. It wasn't much. His constant battles had burned through his essence, and he only had twenty percent left.
'Enough to kill this bastard,' Uriel thought, transforming into an enormous sea serpent.
Goliath, who was having difficulty fighting the dragon, was shaken when an enormous sea serpent bit his body, tearing enormous fragments of rock from his left shoulder.
The Titan turned, extending his hand to grab the serpent, but it slithered away.
Gunlaug and Uriel crashed against the Fallen Titan again, who couldn't hold on long enough. About two minutes later, an enormous sword pierced its head, followed by descending diagonally, splitting its enormous body.
Uriel heard the Spell's voice in his mind.
[You have killed a Fallen Titan, Goliath]
'Take that, bastard. I won't let you destroy my city.'
Smiling, he created two wings of darkness, emerging from the sea. Shortly after, Gunlaug did the same.
Uriel flew back to the battlefield.
'Now only the Winter Beast remains,' he thought as he watched the situation begin to calm down. The endless waves of abominations were greatly reduced.
The battle continued for a few more minutes until finally, everything had ended. The abominations stopped attacking in masses, and those that attacked were instantly controlled by Soul.
Uriel landed on the ground, feeling his entire body ache. Dismissing the wings and the Water Pearl, he looked at the final result.
Camp Erebus was still standing. Tens of millions of lives had been saved. The Terror of LO49, Goliath, dozens of Corrupted beings, a Great Devil, and countless Nightmare Creatures had died. This was undoubtedly a truly unimaginable feat.
Uriel walked while dismissing Gunlaug, the Dark Knight, and Skadi back to his Soul Sea. At the same time, he summoned the little devil Iroh, who looked at the corpses with hungry eyes.
"Hey, don't eat that. Eat that," he said, pointing at the enormous horn stuck in the ground, three kilometers away, rising like a visible enormous tower.
The little devil's eyes widened, and without hesitation, he ran toward the enormous horn to eat it.
"I'll feed him a Great Devil's stones later," he murmured to himself.
Uriel walked toward where his cohort was. As he did, he heard the murmurs of the Awakened, the mundanes, and the soldiers alike.
"Look! It's him!" said one.
"Gods, he's truly incredible. I saw him kill a Corrupted Tyrant in seconds. He's terrifyingly strong."
"Did you see his Echoes? I'd kill just to have one of them!"
"That's nothing. Didn't you hear? He killed a Great Creature alone. It's no wonder they call him the strongest Master in the world."
"Why are they crowding around?" another voice intervened. "He's Lord of Darkness, the Dark Hero. There's nothing he can't kill."
"Damn, he's really handsome. I wonder if he has a girlfriend."
"Behave like the Awakened you are. Besides, someone like him wouldn't look at you, crazy girl."
"Oh, shut up. A girl can have dreams."
"You're an Awakened. You can't have dreams."
Uriel laughed quietly as he continued on his way. Finally, he found his subordinates, exhausted beyond measure. At least Asher, Lucien, Tiffany, and Lily, while Abel was vomiting from eating so many peaches, being attended to by an amused Miranda.
"Hello," Uriel greeted, summoning his beautiful and elegant black chair and sitting down in front of them.
"Hey, Capi..." said Lucien with a tired voice. "Is it normal for my whole body to hurt?"
"Yes," Uriel replied.
"Where were you, Captain? I only saw you at the front for a short time," asked Lily.
"Well, there were many Corrupted abominations, so I had to eliminate them far from where our battle could cause havoc. Oh, I also killed a Titan at the bottom of the seabed," he added casually.
"Yeah, sure, whatever you say," said Abel before vomiting.
"Don't talk; you'll only feel more like vomiting," said Miranda.
Uriel watched this with amusement. His gaze settled on the road leading to Camp Erebus.
It was the only area throughout the entire battle that wasn't greatly affected by the magnitude of the Armageddon that had occurred.
Asher lifted his head.
"What's wrong, Asher?" asked Uriel.
"Well, I can sense a large number of humans heading this way, led by six Awakened."
"Six Awakened?"
"Yes," Asher reported.
"I see," Uriel murmured, taking a cup of hot coffee as snow began to fall slowly. Uriel hummed a mental tune that irritated Shade for his own amusement.
After a few minutes, the enormous column of vehicles descending the roads toward the city became clearly visible.
Colonel Anders, who emerged from a large MWP, stepped forward to receive the refugees.
