Chapter 13 - We Made It

Rah stared at his group, which would be traveling with him to the land that would be their home for a while

Rah stood there quietly with his arms crossed before someone tossed him a huge backpack

Rah caught the bag with one hand with ease and put it on his back

"Boss, Everyone is ready," A Big, muscular bald man said as Rah nodded

Rah uncrossed his arms and put his left hand on his sword

"Then it's set, let's hit the road," Rah stated as his Red hair swayed with the movement from his head

"Got it, Rah, you guys heard him, pick the packs up and man the Rickshaws!!" The Man ordered with authority

The Group was filled with Men and women, some who were Farmers and some architects, and finally children who could walk the distance

The Men carried the heavy stuff, with the Women and Children carrying lighter loads because it was necessary

This Group only had about Five Fighters to cover the front, back, and sides, and was relying on Rah to get them out of any tough situations

Rah didn't like screaming or even speaking in general if it wasn't necessary, so he gave this Job to Gen, who used to have some leadership role in a village, he said

The Group walked toward the exit, which is a long passageway that leads to the foot of the mountain

Two people let down the huge gate, and they finally got to look at the outside of the slave mine

The outside of the mountain was actually a beautiful sight, which contrasted with the atrocities that happened inside it

Rah looked at the green scenery, with Tall trees, the lush grass that seemed to stretch endlessly

Rah took in a deep breath and exhaled, "It smells like…"

"Freedom," Gen finished with a big grin as he took in the glorious sunlight

Rah nodded and took a step forward, feeling the breeze on his skin, and closed his eyes

He remembered playing in scenery just like this with his mom and his sister

Rah gained a small smile on his face as he nodded at Gen, signaling they needed to get moving

Gen immediately stepped into action and got everyone moving

"We can enjoy the scenery of the place we're going, but for now, we gotta keep moving," He barked as everyone nodded

They got into the formation they thought of and started moving

Just like they planned, a fighter leading the way in the front, a fighter on the left and right

With Gen and Rah flanking the group, walking side by side with huge packs on their backs, both carrying swords

"To think just a few days ago we were underground mining and had gone years without seeing what the outside world looks like," Gen says, carrying the pack with ease

"Yes, it's much more beautiful than memory," Rah states as they walk the path, looking at the magical plants around them

"This part of the country looks way more beautiful than my humble farmers' village that I'm from," Gen chuckles, which turned into a huff

"To think I failed my job as a Father at this age," Gen says with a pained smile

"You're a dad?" Rah asks curiously

"I don't deserve the title, Dad, anymore…not after I failed him and my wife," Gen says, adding a chuckle at the end, trying to make it seem like he's not hurting

"They killed her…violated her right in front of him and me…as some sort of sick power play," Gen says, looking down as tears drop down from his face

"They took him and me into slavery the same day, but I never saw him again after that," Gen says with a sad smile, taking a drink of water

"I like to think I tried my best that night, I truly do, Rah, but…who am I kidding if I really tried my best, my wife would still be alive and my son…"

"My son wouldn't have to go through the things he's going through right now," Gen says as Rah pats him on the back

"I think the same way as you, Gen," Rah states, keeping his straight face, but you can see the pain in his eyes

"The night they raided my village…killed my mom and captured my sister and me."

"That night I stopped thinking of myself as her big brother if I'm being honest," Rah states, adjusting the straps

"My mother gave me one final task, which was to protect her…and that means until she can live in this world comfortably without anyone being able to touch her."

"My Job isn't done."

Gen looked at Rah with an unreadable expression before looking down, smiling

"For someone so young to have trauma most grown men don't…and to handle it so well."

"Rah, you really are someone special if someone like me could say so," Gen says, letting out a breath

"I just hope Adonis sees the hope in the situation he's in right now."

"*sigh* keep strong son…im coming"

The Group Walked for hours, stretching Miles

The Bright and Yellow Suns, which were a symbol of their newfound hope, slowly drifted away and were replaced by the moons

Everyone was tired except for Rah and Gen, who moved with determination, looking forward to their new life

The kids whose feet were hurting started falling out, which meant Rah and Gen had to stay back even further, and the group had to slow down

Rah didn't want the group to stop, but he knew they had to, so he called them to a halt

"Everyone catch their breath for a bit and drink water," He simply said before looking at the stars

He then started talking to the kids

"I know we've been walking for a while…but now is the time to give it your all," And they all nodded hopelessly at his words

He then pointed at the stars

"When I was young, going through something similar to this, my dad said, ' When you're feeling down and think you can't go on, look to the star"

"The Stars hold all of the answers we seek, like why we have to keep going even when our bodies hurt."

The little ones looked to the stars, and it occupied their mind until the resting period was over

When they started walking, the little ones again seemed to find that reason and gave it their all on this final stretch

For like 2 more hours, they walked and walked

Until the group came to a halt, making Rah run to the front

He grew a small smile while looking at the beautiful scenery in front of him

"We made it."
