The journey to the northern territories of the Land of Water became heavy, stripped of the dense political mist that surrounded the quarters of the Terumī Clan.
Here, the air no longer smelled of strategies or diplomacy; it smelled of stagnant humidity, ashes from improvised campfires, and a subtle but constant trail of iron and blood that clung to their throats.
The five Shadows of the Desert advanced at superhuman speed, jumping in a coordinated manner among the lush trees, escorting Daigo, whose eyes remained fixed on the dense temperate forests that rose before them like a green wall.
Kisame Hoshigaki, rambling with total lightness while jumping among the branches of the colossal trees with a surprising agility for his massive size, spoke up.
"Daigo, are you ready to meet the madmen of the Mist?" Kisame asked as they continued running.
"Why do you say that? Everything has gone well so far," Daigo asked.
"Well, I say it because with the Terumī you could sit down and talk on a sofa, drink water, and debate over the offer, and even though it failed, they didn't attack. But with the Kaguya, words are like the air; it arrives and it goes."
"Are they really as idiotic as I've heard people say?" Baki asked from Daigo's other side.
"It's not that they are idiots or incapable of reasoning, but they have a culture engraved by fire in the deepest part of their bones: for them, the right to speak and to be heard is earned solely with fists and steel. They are pure lovers of battle, warriors born for conflict. If you seem weak or too soft to them, they will attack you out of pure boredom before you even finish your first sentence. If you want them to listen to you, you're going to have to break their pride first."
Daigo did not alter the rhythm of his run even a single millimeter. He only smiled at Kisame's words.
"I haven't come to beg for their approval, Kisame," Daigo responded. "If the only language that clan understands is that of force and domination, then I will speak to them in their own tongue. Sunagakure does not need to beg for allies; it needs soldiers who respect real power."
Shortly after, the group stopped dead on the crest of a gigantic tree that overlooked the entrance of a deep, rocky valley a natural canyon carved by the northern rivers.
Baki stepped forward, intertwining his fingers in a firm command and concentrating his energy in his ocular channels.
"Byakugan!" Baki exclaimed with a contained voice.
The veins around his completely white eyes bulged with violence, marking his temples. The Sand shinobi meticulously scanned the lower terrain, piercing through the dense vegetation with his telescopic vision, and his eyes opened slightly as he analyzed the panorama unfolding below.
"The settlement of the Kaguya Clan is under siege," Baki informed without breaking his gaze for a single second.
"A big battalion from Kirigakure has them completely surrounded at the bottom of the valley. There are more than 200 ninjas."
"Are they cornered?" Kaito asked, leaning the heavy and blunt Kabutowari on his shoulder while looking out into the void.
"Physically yes, they are trapped, but mentally it's a completely different story," Baki replied with a grimace of wonder and bewilderment.
"I don't see fear in them. They are smiling... they are enjoying every damn clash of weapons. I can see their chakra signatures completely altered by pure adrenaline. They are releasing their Shikotsumyaku, pulling swords and spikes of bone directly out of their own arms to fight at the front lines without caring about casualties."
Daigo observed the dense black smoke rising from the bottom of the valley. He knew perfectly well that if he waited for the battle to end on its own, there would be no member of the clan left alive to recruit, destroying the purpose of his journey. He adjusted his white Kazekage cloak and looked fixedly at his squad.
"We will clear the field immediately," Daigo ordered with an implacable firmness that admitted no retorts. "Eliminate all Kirigakure forces from the area. Show them what the authentic elite of Sunagakure is capable of. Leave the leader of the Kaguya... to me."
"Understood, Kazekage-sama!" the Shadows exclaimed in unison, drawing their weapons.
In an absolute blink, the five Shadows of the Desert leapt from the treetops, falling like true meteors into the middle of the chaotic and bloody battlefield.
The intervention was an authentic whirlwind of violence that instantly froze both the surprised attackers of Kiri and the Kaguya defenders.
Kisame Hoshigaki was the first to touch solid ground, unleashing a wild and thunderous laugh as he brandished Samehada with monstrous strength, devouring the chakra of three Mist ninjas with a single oblique strike and sending them flying through the air, completely weakened.
To his left, Genta moved like an authentic golden lightning bolt; the electrified blades of the Kiba swords buzzed with fury in the humid air, slicing through metal armor and dismantling enemy formations in a matter of seconds.
Yura, with a coldness that instilled terror, spun the gigantic Kubikiribōchō, decapitating enemies and cleaving heavy shields with astonishing ease, while Kaito fell from the heavens slamming the ground with the brute force of the Kabutowari, shattering the solid rock and destroying the water barriers that the Kiri captains tried to raise.
But the display that most impacted and interested Daigo was Baki's. Using the gifts that Daigo had given him, he combined the perfect vision of his Byakugan with the deadly and silent finesse of the Nuibari needle-sword.
Moving among the ranks of Kirigakure like an invisible gust of cutting wind, Baki dodged every attack by millimeters thanks to his 360-degree tridimensional perception. With incredibly precise movements of his fingers, he threaded the giant needle through the pressure points and tendons of the enemies, sewing them together and instantly blocking their chakra pathways.
The bodies of the Kiri ninjas fell to the ground in groups, completely paralyzed, mute, and bloodied, hopelessly trapped in the steel thread network of the legendary blade.
In a matter of minutes, the 200-man battalion of Kirigakure completely collapsed, transformed into a pile of inert and disarmed bodies.
The survivors of the Kaguya Clan stopped their bone weapons, panting heavily, covered in their own blood and the blood of others, but with their eyes wide open, marveled, ecstatic, and deeply astonished by such a display of perfect and coordinated violence.
At that precise moment, the leader of the Kaguya Clan took a step forward from among his people.
He was a man of big build, his bare torso covered in war scars and sharp, solid bone spikes protruding from his shoulders, knuckles, and elbows. His eyes, ignited by the thrill of combat and bloodlust, completely ignored the fallen Kiri soldiers and locked directly onto the figure of Daigo, who was floating downward smoothly.
"Hahaha! I don't know who the hell you are, guy, but your men are magnificent warriors, damn it!" the Kaguya leader roared with a wild smile that showed his disdain for danger, releasing a thick layer of bones from his palms.
"But in my clan, we don't like men who hide behind their soldiers just to keep their hands clean! Prove to me if you also have the right to stand in front of me!"
Without waiting for a single response, the Kaguya leader propelled himself forward with a brutal speed that made the ground beneath his feet creak.
He immediately initiated the Dance of the Camellia, extracting an incredibly dense and sharp bone sword from his own right arm and lunging with a direct, lethal thrust toward the Kazekage's heart.
The Shadows made an instinctive movement to intervene to protect their leader, but Daigo raised a firm hand, stopping them dead in their tracks.
The young man did not alter his pulse, nor did he even activate his characteristic Crystal Style that the Shadows expected to see. Instead, he took a deep breath, channeling the valuable fruit of his two years of intensive training in the Elephant Valley, where he had brought his mastery over his basic natures to an absolute and devastating level.
"Doton: Doryūdan! (Earth Style: Earth Dragon Bullet)" Daigo pronounced calmly.
Just before the sharp edge of the bone could touch his clothes, the textured ground beneath the Kaguya leader's feet fractured with a thunderous crash.
A massive dragon of earth and solid stone emerged from the depths of the earth, striking the leader directly in the torso with a brutal impact force that completely deflected his trajectory and forced him back several meters, dragging his feet heavily against the rocks.
The Kaguya leader stabilized his posture with surprising agility, wiping a string of blood running from his mouth, and his smile became even more crazed and joyful upon feeling real pain.
"Earth Style?! Do you think you can stop the blessed bones of my clan with simple river mud?!" he roared with all his might.
He launched himself into the attack once more, this time combining his movements with the Dance of the Pines, causing dozens of gigantic bone spikes to sprout from his entire body to shred anything that stood in his way.
Daigo stood completely firm in his original position, performing a sequence of hand seals at a speed that the normal eyes of the spectators only saw as a blur.
"Doton: Gōki Kabe! (Earth Style: Fortified Proud Wall)"
An immense wall of rock of a dark, almost black grayish color due to the immense amount of compressed chakra that Daigo injected into it in an instant, erupted violently from the ground.
The Kaguya leader crashed full force with his entire body and his spikes against the structure. The sound of bone colliding with the ultra-dense rock resonated with a sharp, shocking echo throughout the valley.
To the leader's absolute shock, his bones capable of piercing the tempered steel of the finest armor could not even cause a single crack on the surface of Daigo's earth wall.
The impact was so entirely solid that the destructive vibrations traveled back through his own skeleton, slightly fracturing his own bone anchoring points in his shoulders.
Before the leader could react or jump back to catch his breath and assess the situation, Daigo made a sharp, downward motion with his right palm, pointing to the ground.
"Let's finish this demonstration," Daigo spoke with a gélid voice that cut through the wind.
"Doton: Chidansō! (Earth Style: Earth Prison)"
The textured, rocky ground beneath the leader of the Kaguya Clan completely collapsed inward due to the change in density.
In an absolute blink, four immense pillars of solid, sharp stone erupted in perfect diagonal angles, trapping the leader's four limbs in mid-air, completely immobilizing him and shattering half of his external bone defenses by the pure, crushing weight of the rock's impact.
Daigo walked slowly toward him, keeping his arms crossed with total elegance beneath his white Kazekage cloak, which hadn't even been stained by the dust of battle.
Standing just inches away from the trapped warrior, Daigo released a pressure of chakra so monumental, dense, and heavy that the air in the entire valley seemed to lose oxygen all at once. The Kaguya members watching from a distance felt their legs tremble from pure instinct, forcing them to bow their heads, gasp, and rest their hands on the ground from the sheer, physical weight of the young Kage's energy.
Daigo lowered his gaze from beneath the brim of his hat, observing the immobilized and bloodied leader fixedly.
"Weak. I expected more from the Kaguya Clan, considering you have such a strong bloodline," Daigo declared, his voice echoing with absolute authority.
"So that you know who I am, my name is Daigo, the 4th Kazekage of Sunagakure. I came to bring you a proposal to save you from being annihilated by Kirigakure, but seeing how weak you are, maybe I shouldn't even exert myself to help you."
The leader of the Kaguya Clan, with the sharp earth lances brushing against his vital points in his neck and coughing up a mouthful of thick blood, looked directly into Daigo's pink eyes.
He tried to break free from his prison to show the Kazekage his strength, to see if he truly was weak.
A wild, hoarse, and genuine laugh escaped the leader's throat a laugh of pure respect and absolute submission before the supreme warrior who had beaten him at his own game.
"Hahaha... you call us weak? Release me so you can see how I destroy you!" the leader exclaimed, putting more strength into breaking the earth pressure that held him.
"You already lost the opportunity to show me your strength. I, as the winner, want to offer you a proposal. What do you say to joining Sunagakure instead of wasting your bloodline in this mist?" Daigo said, looking around at everyone.
