After the night grew darker, Conrad began moving forward. Once he got close enough, he managed to bypass all the armed guards with ease.
For a Nen user like himself, dealing with these security forces directly and creating unnecessary chaos was not something he desired right now.
If possible, he wanted to quickly capture the leader, transfer the resources to himself, and only then proceed with the extermination.
Swiftly, he entered the mansion from the back and began advancing through the first hall. Thanks to the passive effect of the obelisks, even if it was not as detailed as "En," sensing how many people stood around each corner and detecting obstacles ahead of him posed no issue.
As he continued walking, he suddenly stopped and waited for a few seconds.
Two men dressed in black suits and carrying submachine guns had just turned the corner.
Conrad struck the backs of their necks twice.
With those blows, both armed men collapsed to the ground like sacks of potatoes.
They might have looked unconscious, but in reality, both of them were dead.
Conrad had directly struck the back of their necks with a karate chop powerful enough to be harmless against Nen users but fatal to ordinary humans.
The impact shattered their necks and killed them instantly.
"Yes..."
"Killing still makes me feel nothing."
"In fact, it brings me even more satisfaction when I know the people I kill aren't good people at all," he thought.
He continued moving forward with calm and confident steps. Unless they directly got in his way, he had no intention of killing the guards.
A few minutes later, he arrived at a long stairway descending directly downward toward the shelter. More than five guards were intensely focused on watching the only entrance leading down.
"I could kill every single one of them in far less than a second..." he thought.
The moment he turned the corner, he moved with tremendous speed.
Like a ghost or an evil spirit, he crossed the ten-meter distance in roughly a tenth of a second, and the five guards slowly collapsed to the floor.
As he passed by them, he struck each of their necks once. The blows were so violent for ordinary humans that the armed mafia members did not even have time to realize they had died.
He arrived in front of a massive metal door, with more stairs beyond it.
"Honestly, this is a pretty sturdy door," he thought.
A smile appeared on his face as he began using "En," limiting it to a two-meter circular area. Looking through the small opening in the large metal door, he noticed faint lighting on the other side and could vaguely make out another stairway.
In an instant, he vanished from where he stood and appeared inside the next room.
One of the conditions of using the "Blink" ability was that he needed to physically see the location he wanted to teleport to, and that location also had to exist within the range of his "En."
If the other room had been completely dark instead of dimly lit, then even though he would not experience blindness itself, accurately "seeing" the destination would have become difficult, and the door might have interfered with the teleportation.
The essential condition was simple: even in darkness, his eyes needed to recognize and understand the location he wished to teleport toward.
That was why, despite the darkness of Deep Point, he had not experienced any trouble teleporting there.
At this point, the obelisks were no longer very effective, because unless properly connected with other obelisks placed beneath the structure, they could no longer relay information to Conrad.
When Conrad originally placed the obelisks, he had carefully followed a five-meter elevation rule, allowing him to observe the mansion in a three-dimensional structure.
Even though he could still faintly sense where Aresto and the other three Nen users were located, the Obelisk ability was not especially useful unless actively utilized.
And right now, while in the middle of a mission and standing only thirty meters away from three Nen users, he had no intention of actively using the Obelisks.
Yes, he was powerful—extremely powerful—but he had no desire to become the victim of some absurd Nen ability simply because he overestimated himself.
Arrogance and self-confidence were entirely different emotions and ways of acting, and Conrad did not want to believe he was foolish enough to fail to understand the importance of that difference.
With slow steps, he descended the stairs.
With each step, he expanded his "En" by another meter until he reached an L-shaped corridor three meters wide and fifteen meters long.
"Immediately to the right, there are four armed guards standing in front of a large vault-like door."
"I can't fully sense the room behind the door, but it should be at least one hundred square meters in size. The three Nen users and Aresto are inside."
"Hmm..."
"Now then, if the Nen user named Miladi possesses the ability to detect future threats, then the other two are most likely Nen users more suited for combat."
"At least one of them should excel in direct close combat, while the other likely possesses a battle-oriented or trap-type Nen ability."
"If I act carelessly..." Conrad smiled before finishing his sentence.
For roughly a second, he stared directly at the four mafia members in the corridor, and immediately afterward, he appeared within their vicinity.
One second later, the four mafia members had collapsed to the floor.
"Now..."
"The time for the real battle has arrived…" Conrad thought as he looked at the massive, five-meter-tall door made from titanium and steel.
If he launched a powerful Nen attack, he could probably break the door, but he was not completely certain whether it would actually open.
At that same moment, inside the shelter, Tatris—the bald man with one blind eye—stood up.
"Right at the door... there's an enemy..."
"Very strong..."
Miladi and Ridlef looked toward Tatris and quietly exhaled.
Tatris's Nen ability was a much more practical, though simultaneously weaker, version of Miladi's ability. The useful aspect was that it could also be used actively during combat.
Tatris was a Conjurer-type Nen user capable of creating two miniature puppets.
Small and Big were the names of these puppets.
One of these puppets directly appeared on his shoulder and provided him with a three-meter circular area similar to an enhanced form of "En."
The second puppet created a thirty-meter circular detection field that specialized in identifying the origin of high-level Nen users, Nen surges, and Nen-related energy.
At the same time, Tatris himself was also an experienced close-combat fighter.
