Chapter 151 - Chapter 154: Chiba, Lord of the Shinobi World! The First to Unite the Lands!!!

The rupture between Uchiha Obito and Uchiha Madara was never a matter of if - only when. Two men with world-sized ambitions were never going to share the same summit for long. Chiba's interference simply forced the inevitable to arrive sooner, dragging the future forward by the throat.

Zetsu sensed it as well. Obito's desire to rule had grown too blatant to ignore, and too dangerous to keep indulging. If Obito continued down that path, "Madara's will" would eventually become nothing more than a chain Obito would snap the moment it no longer served him.

So Zetsu shifted course.

Since Obito couldn't be controlled forever, Madara would have to return through other means - through Edo Tensei ("Impure World Reincarnation").

Meanwhile, Obito - having successfully fused with a single Rinnegan - threw himself into searching for a way to achieve perfect integration with its power. His focus became obsessive, consuming his time and attention, leaving him with no patience to watch Zetsu's movements. That blind spot was all Zetsu needed.

And so, quietly, he began hunting for Kabuto Yakushi, preparing the ground to summon the dead back into the world of the living.

At the same time, Chiba and Konan continued their journey together.

They disembarked from Turtle Island and stepped onto the soil of the Land of Lightning. From there, they crossed the Land of Frost and the Land of Hot Water, then entered the Land of Fire, cutting across its breadth until the borders gave way to Amegakure's domain.

Amegakure was perpetually drowned in rain.

It wasn't the result of Ame Yūhi Jizai no Jutsu ("Raining Tiger at Will Technique"). The downpour belonged to the land itself, as natural and relentless as breathing. In another fate, when Konan died beneath a clear sky and a rainbow appeared, that would have been the true miracle - a beauty so rare it felt like the world apologizing.

When they finally entered Amegakure, the city rose before them like an iron forest - towering metal structures, pipelines, and narrow streets half-swallowed by mist and drizzle. It matched Chiba's memory perfectly, the kind of place that looked like it had been built to endure despair.

Konan looked up into the falling rain and didn't blink. The water ran down her face, indistinguishable from anything she might have been holding back. For a moment, she wasn't the last angel of Akatsuki - she was simply someone returning to the grave of a dream.

They made their way to the small house where Jiraiya had once trained his three students.

Behind it, in the backyard, they buried Yahiko - Pain's Deva Path - and Nagato side by side. The ground was damp, the air cold, the rain unending, yet the silence that followed felt almost sacred.

It was here, in that tiny home and those brief years, that they had once been happiest. Not because the world was kind, but because their hearts still believed it could be.

When it was done, Konan seemed to set something down at last - something heavy, something that had cut into her for years.

She turned to Chiba, rain clinging to her lashes, and spoke with a steadiness that cost her more than she would ever admit.

"Thank you… for letting me do this."

Chiba's answer was simple, almost gentle.

"It's nothing."

He watched her for a moment, then asked what mattered next.

"What now?"

Konan's gaze sharpened, the grief settling into resolve.

"I'll tell you where Akatsuki's old bases and hidden outposts are."

A pause, faint but telling.

"But if I'm right… they won't return to those places."

Chiba nodded once.

"I think so too."

His voice remained calm - controlled - but there was a quiet precision beneath it, like a blade kept sheathed only because the cut would come later.

"Still, we can pull what they left behind. Intelligence. Documents. Supplies."

Konan gave a soft, almost reluctant confirmation.

"Mm."

In the days that followed, Chiba moved with Konan through nearly every Akatsuki site that still existed on any map that wasn't meant to be seen.

One by one, their hidden veins were opened - sealed storehouses, underground shelters, contingency bunkers prepared for a future that never arrived as planned. And Chiba took everything.

Wealth. Materials. Resources. Confidential records. Carefully hoarded reserves built on years of secrecy and blood.

After Turtle Island, Akatsuki's defeat had been so crushing that no one dared return. Those outposts became empty husks, their protections meaningless without hands to guard them.

Which meant everything inside them now belonged to Chiba.

Elsewhere, Uchiha Obito - now fused with a single Rinnegan - invoked Gendōshin no Jutsu ("Phantom Dragon Body Technique") again, calling the scattered Akatsuki members back from their hiding places.

He wore the name "Uchiha Madara" like a crown forged from fear.

And fear worked.

The name alone silenced doubts and bent spines. Akatsuki gathered once more.

But inside that reformation, another arrangement had already begun to tighten in the shadows. Zetsu and Kabuto Yakushi were secretly aligned, moving with quiet purpose as they searched for corpses worthy of Edo Tensei - dead monsters, dead legends, dead kings.

And above all, one corpse mattered more than any other.

Uchiha Madara.

The shinobi world changed after Turtle Island.

Pain's death and Akatsuki's devastation didn't merely remove a threat - it created breathing room between the Five Great Nations, easing tensions in a way no summit ever could.

Even the Yondaime Raikage began to see Chiba differently. His hostility toward Kirigakure, once sharp enough to cut, dulled into something closer to wary acceptance.

Ōnoki of the s may still have had schemes behind his eyes, but schemes required leverage. Having lost two Jinchūriki - Yonbi (Four-Tails) and Gobi (Five-Tails) - Iwagakure no longer had the strength to challenge Kirigakure head-on.

Sunagakure understood it just as clearly. Opposing Kirigakure now would be like striking a mountain with an egg. Even the hatred tied to the Yondaime Kazekage, Rasa, had to be swallowed. Survival demanded restraint.

In the shinobi world, vengeance could be both everything and nothing.

After all, even the violent Yondaime Raikage had chosen reconciliation with Iwagakure - the village bound to the death of his father, the Third Raikage - so that a united shinobi force could stand against greater threats. No village's hands were clean, and no village could afford pride forever.

Which hidden village hadn't gone to war?

Which hadn't killed?

After the Turtle Island showdown, Chiba's authority didn't fade. It hardened.

The Dawn Alliance remained intact, and Chiba's position as supreme commander of the allied shinobi forces endured - if anything, his prestige only surged higher. His name carried weight across borders, and his presence pushed the world into an era of rare stability and rapid growth.

Once the sweep of Akatsuki's bases and outposts was complete, Chiba returned with Konan to Kirigakure.

And Kirigakure… had already transformed.

It wasn't merely prospering - it was booming, expanding like a rising tide, becoming the shinobi world's strongest force beyond any doubt.

Chiba's return brought Mei Terumi a surge of joy she couldn't hide.

So much had happened since he left - what had started as a mission to coordinate with other great nations against Konoha had spiraled into a chain of events too large for any one village to contain.

A lightning assault on Konoha.

A three-faction war.

The clash with Akatsuki.

The decisive battle at Turtle Island.

Mei had gone far too long without seeing him.

So when Chiba stepped into the Mizukage's office again, the surprise hit like a physical blow. In his absence, Mei had served as acting Mizukage, spending her days at that desk, carrying the village on her shoulders with the cool precision of a leader.

But the moment she saw him, that composure cracked.

Her expression shifted from sharp and commanding - Kirigakure's acting Mizukage - to startled joy, cheeks warming, eyes brightening like she'd been caught off guard by her own heart.

"Chiba… y-you're finally back - mmph…"

She didn't get to finish.

Chiba pulled her into his arms without hesitation, holding her close as if he intended to erase the distance those months had built. The office, so often filled with paperwork and pressure, warmed instantly - spring slipping into the air as though it had been waiting for him to return.

After coming home, Chiba resumed strengthening Kirigakure with relentless focus.

As the "Lord of the Shinobi World," there was no one left who could stop him - or stop Kirigakure - from rising. The era had shifted, and the center of it had shifted with it.

Chiba extended his one-year agreement with Jiraiya into three.

He also began specialized training for Uchiha Sasuke, shaping him with deliberate intent rather than scattered guidance.

Within Kirigakure's next generation, talent flourished in abundance - elites gathering, prodigies emerging, the village's future sharpening into something formidable. Chiba personally cultivated the major clans, the kekkei genkai users, and shinobi who wielded rare secret arts, pushing each group to grow faster and stronger, ensuring no potential remained wasted.

Beyond Kirigakure, smaller nations began to submit completely.

The Land of Hot Water - where Tsunade had once soaked in hot springs and fought fierce battles - submitted.

The Land of Frost, bordering the Land of Lightning and lying close to Kumogakure, submitted.

One after another, countries and villages - large and small - fell into alignment beneath Chiba: Konoha, Otogakure, Amegakure, Takigakure, Yugakure, the Land of Frost, and more.

It was no exaggeration to say that more than half the shinobi world had already fallen into his hands.

At this point, Chiba had undeniably become the foremost figure among the Five Great Nations - the first of his era in both name and reality.

And among his most fervent followers, an even greater title was spoken with reverence, as though saying it aloud could reshape destiny itself:

Lord of the Shinobi World.
