Kael's body appeared in mid-air, his hands weaving into a sign.
"Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue!"
A sphere of brilliant blue light manifested to the left behind Kael.
"Cursed Technique Reversal: Red!"
A sphere of violent red light materialized to his right.
"He's doing it again!!"
"Didn't the King say he couldn't use it anymore?! Why can he still do that?!"
The Kingdom's army fell into utter despair at the sight. They had seen Kael use this move earlier to strike the Legion corps in the sky, obliterating a significant portion of their forces in the process.
Even that had just been the aftershock. Now, Kael's target was clearly them, right there on the ground.
Run? Could they even run?! Impossible!
"It's over!"
Just as Kael prepared to launch his attack—
"Kael!! Wait!!"
A voice rang out.
Kael looked up and saw a figure riding a massive, eagle-like bird, flying rapidly toward him.
"Mystogan!"
Kael recognized him instantly. He paused his attack, leaving the spheres of Blue and Red hovering on either side of his body.
"Kael, stop! I've already sent the Lacrima back to Earth-land through the remnants of the Anima. Everyone has been restored to normal. It's over. There's no need to keep fighting."
As he spoke, Mystogan pulled the mask from his face.
"Prince!!"
Panther Lily recognized him immediately. The Prince of the Kingdom of Edolas.
"Prince?!"
Natsu and the others heard it too.
"Mystogan is the Prince of Edolas?!"
They were stunned. Mystogan's identity had always been a mystery; he had joined Fairy Tail long ago and became one of their S-Class mages early on.
To think his true identity was the Prince of Edolas.
"Your Highness!!"
"Wasn't he missing?!"
"Does the Prince know that guy?" ...
The soldiers below broke into a frantic chatter.
"Kael, I know the Kingdom of Edolas is at fault here. But this is also my home. Please, for the sake of me getting everyone back home, show some mercy. End this battle!"
"Prince..."
Hope began to spark within the army. They finally understood that they had provoked a monster—a monster with the power to wipe the Kingdom of Edolas off the map if he so chose.
"End it?! Who said anything about ending it?! You think you can leave after turning my kingdom into a disaster?"
Suddenly, King Faust's voice thundered across the battlefield.
"His Majesty..."
The soldiers hadn't expected the King to still want to fight at a time like this.
"Father... you have no idea how powerful Kael is. This is only one of his forms. He has states even stronger than this. He can destroy Edolas whenever he wants."
Mystogan pleaded anxiously. Though he wasn't intimately close with Kael, Kael's heroic deeds were legendary within Fairy Tail.
The Kingdom of Edolas was powerful, but to Kael, they posed no real threat.
"I am not your father! I am the King of Edolas! Don't think I don't know what you've been doing. You're the one who's been quietly sealing the Anima from Earth-land all these years, preventing us from absorbing magic. If I finish you off here, no one will be left in Earth-land to interfere with the Anima. I'll create an even larger Lacrima, and Edolas will have infinite magic power forever!!!"
"Your Majesty...!"
"Stubborn as a mule. Mystogan, you heard him. It's not that I won't stop—it's that he won't."
Kael looked at Mystogan. Since Mystogan was a member of Fairy Tail and had saved their guildmates, Kael was willing to give him some face.
"Kael, please, have mercy. Too many have been sacrificed already. If they stop fighting, could you please let them go?"
Mystogan begged.
"If they stop fighting, I can let them go for your sake."
Relief washed over Mystogan. He turned to the forces below and shouted, "Everyone! As the Prince of Edolas, I command you! Drop your weapons! If you do, Kael will not attack you!"
Clang! Clatter!
Many soldiers, feeling like they had just been granted a divine pardon, immediately dropped their weapons.
"You useless cowards! As the King of Edolas, I command you to pick up your weapons and fight!"
Faust felt a stinging humiliation seeing his own army surrender to the enemy. He didn't care about the lives of these soldiers.
"This..."
The soldiers wavered. After all, it was the King's direct order.
"Don't listen to him! If you keep fighting, you're just throwing your lives away! You only have one life—treasure it!!"
Mystogan shouted his warning.
Kael said flatly, "This isn't working. I'll handle it. You lot—if you don't want to die, scram!"
Hearing Kael's voice, the soldiers broke into a dead run.
The terror Kael inspired was etched into their souls. Fight? How could they possibly fight a man like that? If the Prince hadn't shown up, they would have been turned to ash long ago.
Seeing his army flee, Faust was consumed by rage.
"You trash!! How dare you disobey your King!!"
"Fine, it doesn't matter. It's all the same with or without you garbage. I'll kill them all myself!!"
"Black Sky Mode! Activate!!"
The outer shell of the mechanical dragon, Dorma Anim, turned pitch black.
"Kid, the Dorma Anim: Black Sky is a special armor that multiplies the magic consumption of my opponents. It is the ultimate magic weapon that can continuously absorb the world's magic. No matter how strong you are, you're finished!!"
"Die!!"
A beam of energy erupted from the mechanical dragon's maw.
Kael simply raised a hand. The sphere of Blue shot forward to meet the energy beam. The magic was instantly devoured by the singularity, vanishing in the blink of an eye.
"What?!"
Faust couldn't believe his magic had been swallowed whole.
Kael pointed a finger at Faust, and the sphere of Red screamed toward him.
"Dragon Rider Spread Cannon!!"
A barrage of shells fired toward the incoming Red.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
The shells did nothing to stop the Red sphere.
BOOM—!!
The sphere of Red detonated against the ground, gouging a massive crater into the earth.
Faust piloted the Dorma Anim into a high leap.
"Wahahahaha!! You missed!!"
Suddenly!
Kael's voice whispered right above Faust's head:
"Idiot. It's already over."
Kael crossed his index and middle fingers.
"Domain Expansion."
