Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Returning To The Village

Chapter:6 Returning To The Village

Beginner – 2.32% (0–10%)

Uchiha Kenzo now also understood how the rewards are distributed.

For example, when he killed a person, he would receive one of the rewards that the person already had in their body or soul. When he killed the bandit, he received a minor physical boost — not all of his attributes, not his full strength, just a fragment of what the man possessed.

It was not random but selective.

After some further understanding, he also realized how the percentage of rewards is distributed.

The percentage directly depends on his current understanding of the Path of Killing. The deeper his comprehension, the greater the portion he could extract.

For example, if he killed a bandit now and received a physical enhancement reward,

he would receive 2.32% of the bandit's current physical strength — no more, no less.

It was very precise.

He hadn't received any soul- or memory-related rewards just yet, which he would understand further with time and more rewards. Perhaps those required deeper insight. Or perhaps his current level was simply too low to access such things.

Either way,

for now, physical attributes were the only tangible proof of progress.

After cleaning up the bandits' corpses with a simple Fire Release, watching the flames consume the blood-stained wood and erase the smell of iron from the air, Kenzo finally made his way outside the wooden hut.

Since this was just a bandit extermination mission, he didn't require bringing back their bodies.

He then shifted his gaze and looked up at the sky, where the sun was already high, radiating its heat to the fullest extent. The forest felt quieter now.

Unknowingly, so much time had passed, he thought with a quiet shake of his head.

He had already gathered all the valuables from the bandits' hideout — coins, weapons, stored rations, and a few hidden stashes poorly concealed beneath floorboards. After keeping some hidden loot for himself and setting aside the rest for the village, he calmly burned all the tents and the wooden hut, ensuring nothing useful remained.

After removing all traces of himself — footprints brushed away, chakra residue suppressed — he made his way back along the path he had come from.

His movements were steady, unhurried.

While on the way, he thought of gathering intel about the previous locations he had considered — the Land of Demons and the Sky Ninja Village.

He needed to know whether they existed or not.

They would play a significant role in his path to power if they did exist.

He also knew of the Great Toad Sage from Mount Myoboku with prophetic ability, a being said to see fragments of the future itself, and the mysterious Sage of Six Paths in the Pure Land, about whom he knew almost nothing beyond the anime.

Too many unknowns.

Too many variables.

The waters in the shinobi world ran too deep, and he, Kenzo, was just a minor fish in a pond — aware enough to see the vastness around him, yet still far from the depths.

Without lingering further kenzo left for the village.

The future was uncertain.

But he would never give up, no matter how big the barrier before him was.

If the path ahead required blood, understanding, or patience—

He would take it step by step.

2.32% at a time.

Meanwhile…

In the Hokage Tower office, Hiruzen Sarutobi had already stopped checking the documents. The stack remained on his desk, untouched.

Instead, he was using his trusty old crystal ball with the Telescope Technique.

The faint smoke from his pipe drifted lazily through the stale air.

With a loud bang!!!

The door swung open.

Shimura Danzo appeared, his signature right eye covered with a bandage and his trusty old cane in hand.

"Hiruzen!!! You have to apprehend Kenzo Uchiha. He needs to be handed over to Root for proper reassessment."

Hiruzen Sarutobi, with practiced movements, immediately deactivated the Telescope Technique and hid his crystal ball under the table.

"How many times do I have to say this, Danzo? Knock on the door," he said, irritation clear in his voice as he set his pipe down.

Shimura Danzo, however, completely ignored the outburst.

"Hiruzen, you have to do something about him," Danzo continued, his voice firm but no longer raised.

"What do you mean, Danzo?" Hiruzen asked, calming himself. He took a slow puff from his pipe, letting the smoke permeate the room before speaking again. "Uchiha Kenzo is also a part of this village."

Danzo did not back down.

"You know exactly what I mean, Hiruzen. An Uchiha with a three-tomoe Sharingan is extremely dangerous."

The room grew quieter.

Danzo stepped closer to the desk.

"That kind of detachment at his age is not normal."

Hiruzen's eyes narrowed slightly.

"Talent does not equal threat."

Danzo's grip tightened around his cane.

"Have you forgotten what happened with Uchiha Shisui?"

The name alone caused Hiruzen's mood to immediately worsen. A visible scowl formed on his face.

"We will not be discussing him again, Danzo."

"The evil Uchiha—"

Before he could even finish his words—

"I am the Hokage, Danzo."

The interruption was sharp.

Danzo stopped mid-sentence.

"I decide what is to be done with a shinobi of this village."

Danzo's visible eye hardened.

"You are being naïve, Hiruzen. Root exists for a reason. I have already arranged for him to be observed."

Hiruzen's gaze sharpened instantly.

"You assigned Root to monitor him without my approval?"

Danzo did not deny it.

"Observation is not punishment. It is a precaution."

Silence lingered in the office.

Hiruzen spoke again, his voice calmer now, but firmer.

"Kenzo Uchiha has done nothing to warrant suspicion. Until he does, he remains under my authority."

Danzo's face reddened slightly, anger rising beneath his controlled tone.

"By the time he does something, it may already be too late."

Another tense pause.

"I am the Hokage," Hiruzen repeated.

The authority in his voice left no room for debate.

Danzo inhaled slowly, restraining himself.

Now completely angered, though no longer shouting, he turned toward the door.

As he opened it, he stopped briefly.

"You will regret this, Hiruzen."

The door slammed shut behind him.

Silence permeated the office again.
