Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Silent Graveyard

The Silent Graveyard

The vision was no longer a dream; it was a horrifying reality. Yukanda City, once a beacon of order, lay in absolute ruin. Every street was stained with a thick, metallic coating of blood. Corpses were scattered like discarded dolls across every corner—there was no sign of life, no sound of breathing.

Standing amidst the mountain of devastation, Akuma threw his head back and laughed. It was a sound of pure, unadulterated pleasure. To him, the stench of death was the scent of victory.

Flashback: The Night the World Cracked

The sky had been a battlefield. Akuma and Taichi's attacks had collided with a force that defied physics, shaking the city to its very core. The air itself had trembled, unable to contain their combined rage. Out of nowhere, a mysterious figure had descended, desperately trying to intervene and stop the slaughter. But he was weak. Fear had paralyzed him, and he fled like a coward into the clouds.

Enraged that his prey had escaped, Akuma didn't stop. He turned his fury toward the city itself. He unleashed every ounce of his dormant power, erasing Yukanda from the map. He smiled then—a smile that belonged to a demon who had finally found his home in the chaos.

Suddenly, a sharp, blinding pain pierced his skull. Faint, blurry memories flickered—a voice, a face—but as quickly as they came, they vanished.

The Present: The Mayor and the Monster

Back in the ruins, Akuma walked over the lifeless bodies, his eyes cold and distant. From the shadows, his Leader watched with a sickening satisfaction. Both stood in a heavy silence, observing the graveyard they had created.

As morning broke, the scene shifted to the desperate remains of the city council. Max, the Mayor, stood with half of his face horribly burned, his skin a roadmap of scars.

"What now?" his subordinate asked, his voice dead and indifferent. "Should we help the survivors?"

Max stared at the smoke rising from the horizon. "I only care about my own survival now. Do as you wish."

For a moment, Max felt a strange pull—a sense of familiarity in the air, as if someone from his past was nearby. But he shook his head, his voice rasping. "It's just my imagination. If anyone from them were still alive, we would already be dead."

The Letter and the Barrier

Far away, in a place of serene, untouched beauty, a mysterious girl sat in silence. Her grace was as sharp as a blade. She held a pen, writing a letter with steady hands. As she finished the last stroke, a massive, shimmering barrier erupted around Yukanda City, sealing it off from the world.

The letter read:

"You have spilled enough blood. No more innocent lives shall be taken by your hands."

Inside the city, panic flared. A man tried to escape, only to be thrown back by the invisible wall. Max screamed toward the sky, "Whoever did this—show yourself!"

From the shadows, Akuma's Leader stepped forward, his face now hidden behind a haunting mask.

"Who are you?" Max demanded, drawing his weapon.

"You are not worthy of knowing my identity," the Leader replied, his voice like grinding stone.

Max's eyes burned with hatred. "I tried to solve this with love and reason once. If you want violence—then prepare for your end!"

The Awakening of the Beast

While the battle between Max and the Leader erupted, Akuma lay asleep in the ruins. Even in his slumber, he muttered unsettling, guttural words. A girl from his group overheard him and was so overwhelmed by terror that she ran, never looking back.

In his dream, a woman appeared. She looked at him with eyes full of sorrow. "I knew this would happen," she whispered softly.

Akuma's eyes snapped open. The dream shattered. He sensed multiple powerful auras approaching and began to laugh that demonic, Sankiyo-style laugh once more. But then, the headache returned—stronger, more violent.

The Memory:

He remembered her. A girl he once cared for more than his own life.

"Never become someone who ends up completely alone, Akuma," her voice echoed. "There is nothing worse in this world than solitude."

Then came the fire. He saw his family being burned alive by masked killers. The rage returned, but it was different now—it was focused. Akuma rushed outside, searching for her voice, but all he heard was a piercing scream.

From afar, the girl who created the barrier watched Akuma with a trembling hand. "Is that really him? No... I must kill him, or our King's entire plan will fail." She prepared to strike, but before she could move, her own scream echoed through the air as something dark snatched her.

The Final Descent

Akuma's headache stopped. He sensed the mysterious figure who had fled earlier and began to chase him with pure killing intent. No civilians were left. Only blood and the scent of the end.

And then, drawn by that very scent, a giant monster—a beast of ancient myth—began to move toward the ruined city. When it took its first breath, the balance of the world collapsed. The air grew heavy, soaked in despair.

Akuma did not look back. His path was carved in loss and fate. Whatever remained of Yukanda was about to be swallowed whole.
