Chapter 12 - 12.City Skyline Hunters

Sweat beating on my forehead, throat drier than a popeyes biscuit I turn around only to find a group of twelve men charging at us.

It felt familiar. Not long ago were in a situation that though it wasnt the exact same, it was preety similar to tge first time Jake and I fought a group of enemies.

The chants of the group were unrelenting, a cry of war. A declaration of war like that rivalled that of the vikings, menacing and blood curdling making its victims feel like fish out of water.

The sheer feeling of the end was completely and utterly in no doubt of its presence. The fear in our eyes made us stick out like sore thumbs.

But desparate times call for desparate measures, so in this moment of almost certain death I knod my head in the direction of Jake and he whips out our trusty C4 landmines that we were holding just in case of a dangerous circumstance like this one.

He threw one, then two, then three paying extreeme attention to the direction of where each one of them was running. We couldnt afford to miss even one shot.

I knod my head one more time to Jake. He does the same to me. Its go time.

The sight was glorious. The sound of explosions all taking place simoltaniously was like nothing i had ever had before.

Well i mean, I could bearly hear anything.

And just like that, we were gone. There was no time to look back. The price of looking back would be too deer to consider taking even a peak at what calamity we had caused.

Another group sent right back to the void that had brought them here. Althogh in the long run we were practically denying people life, ours were also on the table.

We then went into one of the big buildings. The remains of what seemed like a modern highrise building that would usually be seen as a home. In my eyes i saw a building with endless posibility. What could be hiding in the most unexpected areas of this city skyline.

And my ambition payed off right there and then. There we saw it, a box that had a quite unnatural glow. It looked like nothing i had ever seen before. The light radiating from it looking almost inviting, teasing for its viewers to indulge to take a look at what could be lurking within a wooden box hiding in the shadows.

"Is this what i think it is?" Jake asked with a grin plastered across his face. He looked excited. Like a kid on christmass morning. The light glistening on his face making it shine just a little brighter than normal almost as if he was seeing his chance at victory right in front of him. That nothing and no one would stand in his way now.

"Do you want to open it?" I said to him seeing the smile on his face grow wider with every word that left my mouth. Watching his smile grow unproportional. I didnt know to view his smile as normal or frightening as, when you have been a criminal for this long you can almost tell when something bothering is happening.

I had a feeling something off has been going through Jakes mind ever since the fight with Jack Stone. The way he was quiet the whole fight instead of cheering for me like i did for him was unsettling to say the least.

It seemed like he was taking the fight as a lesson rather than just a fight. Even for me that thought process seemed a little bit sociopathic. It sent chills down my spine just thinking of how my friend could take fighting so seriously.

Although i was scared of what he would do with such analysis, I just brushed it off. For the sake of the journey and for the sake of my sanity.

That could well and trully have been my undoing. Well at least not now.

Jake opened the box and I saw the weapon of a lifetime. A spear.

"Umm is that all?" Jake asked looking directly at me qith tge most disapointed face i think i had ever seen. The spear looked perfectly innocent in the box like it was meant to be a weapon from the stone age and not a weapon of mass destruction.

But it was still in the box. With obviously nothing left to loose, I picked up the spear and...

All of the sudden the spear gained a blue aura plastered all over it. A glow so strong that it could blind an unweary advesary if used in such a way.

With my excitement now on full display tge aura seemed to flash even stronger than before.

Then against my will it shot a pearcing beam that blew a ring sized whole through the floor we were on and blasted through to the bottom floor from the top.

"Holy shit why is this so powerfull?" I shouted out in complete disbeleif.

From then on I actually had true beleif that this time when we got attacked. There would be nothing, absolutely nothing standing in my way of having a chance at life on earth again.

Well i hope that we arent speaking too soon.
