Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Launching the Accusation

In a living room decorated in a very luxurious way, Olev was playing wildly with two scantily clad women of the night.

Just as he took off his trousers and was about to enjoy himself, he looked up by accident and was shocked to see his father, Oldman, walking into the living room with a dark expression.

Olev was so scared that his whole body seemed to shrink. He quickly made the two women leave, while also rushing to pull his trousers back on in a mess.

Watching this, Oldman felt he must have done some great sin in his past life to end up with such a disappointing son.

Compared to Rei, who was the same age, this guy was not even fit to carry his shoes.

Before long, Olev finally managed to put his trousers on. He lowered his head and asked respectfully, "Father, is there some urgent matter for you to come over so suddenly?"

Oldman's expression was cold and indifferent, like a deep, bottomless pool. "Go pack your luggage, then go to Snezhnaya at once. Without my notice, do not ever return to Fontaine in this lifetime."

Hearing that, Olev froze. "Father, why do you want me to go to Snezhnaya?"

"Because with Rei's ability, sooner or later he will find solid evidence. If you don't want to spend the rest of your life in the Fortress of Meropide, go to Snezhnaya at once," Oldman replied calmly.

Hearing this, Olev's face turned very ugly.

Even though he did not want to admit it, he knew very well it was true. Rei really could do it.

In the end, he could only say helplessly, "Father, I agree to go to Snezhnaya."

Oldman waved his hand casually. "Pack your luggage and leave at once."

Olev nodded, turned to call the servants in the house, and told them to pack his luggage.

A moment later, the father and son, with several servants, walked out of the villa with hurried faces, walking quickly toward the harbor.

However, before they went far, their way was blocked by Donatello, who led a group of Special Security and Surveillance Patrol members.

Donatello walked up to Olev, step by step, with a friendly smile on his face. "Mr. Olev, someone reported you for soliciting prostitutes. Please come with us and cooperate with the investigation."

Hearing this, Olev turned to look at his father, his eyes full of begging.

Oldman stared hard at Donatello. His dark, cold look seemed like it wanted to eat someone.

He spoke in a low, calm voice. "Captain Donatello, public order cases like soliciting prostitutes should be handled by the Gardes as the rules say. Also, without a judge's approval, your Special Patrol has no right to forcefully detain people."

Donatello met his eyes without fear. "However, while your young master was soliciting prostitutes, he also used violence against those women. By the rules, when the Special Patrol decides a suspect is a major threat, we can detain them directly without approval."

"But if a judge is present, you must ask for the judge's opinion."

"Normally, yes. But if the judge is a relative of the suspect, they must step aside."

Oldman did not argue anymore.

Because the other side was set on keeping Olev here.

He took a deep breath to calm the anger in his heart and said, "Captain Donatello, I hope you will not regret what you did today in the future."

Donatello grinned, showing a mouthful of white teeth. "Don't worry, I will not regret it at all."

Oldman gave him a deep look, then turned to Olev and said, "During detention, stay silent. Let the lawyer answer all questions."

"I... I understand," Olev replied, a bit flustered.

After that, under the escort of the Special Patrol members, Olev turned and left helplessly.

Oldman stood there. His gaze grew more and more angry and cruel, like an injured beast.

He would take revenge for this, for sure!

On the day Olev was taken away, Federic officially submitted an indictment against Olev to the Tribunal, accusing Olev of the intentional murder of his sister, Flora.

Because he did not trust the Maison Ordalie (Prosecution Office), Federic asked that Vice Captain Rei act as the plaintiff's agent (proxy).

Iudex Neuvillette accepted the case and approved the request.

As soon as this news spread, it shook all of Fontaine at once. The topic became hot overnight.

In the streets and alleys, people talked about it everywhere. Everyone was looking forward to this coming great drama of revenge.

In a somewhat dim interrogation room, Rei sat across from Olev. Next to them sat a lawyer wearing a western suit and leather shoes.

Rei spoke with a calm face, "Olev, confess to your crimes! I can request a lighter sentence—changing your prison term from life to one hundred years."

Hearing this, the corners of Olev's mouth could not help twitching a little.

Is there any difference between the two?

Then he lifted his eyes to look at Rei, his tone full of anger and unwillingness. "Rei, why do you refuse to let me go? Our Cappet family..."

"Cough, cough, cough!" The lawyer coughed several times in a row and cut him off in time. "Young Master Olev, you should remain silent."

Olev gave Rei a hateful glare and said no more.

Seeing this, Rei knew there would be no result, so he simply stood up and ended this short interrogation.

Just as he walked out of the interrogation room, he saw Donatello waiting at the door.

"Vice Captain Rei, do you need me to use some 'methods' on this kid?" Donatello suggested with a smile.

Rei refused this unreliable idea at once. "No need. I can definitely send him to the Fortress of Meropide."

Donatello nodded. "Since you are so confident, I won't say more. By the way, there is something I want to ask of you."

At this point, a gentle look appeared on his face. "My daughter, Chevreuse, plans to take the exam for the Gardes. I hope you can take care of her a bit after she joins."

"Don't worry, I will take care of her." Rei looked serious and spoke firmly.

After hearing this, Donatello seemed to let go of a worry in his heart. He turned and walked away with big steps.

Watching his back as he left, Rei let out a faint, quiet sigh
