Author Note:
Hey, sorry for the long wait. Was doing some research on Anthem before it fully shuts down.
Also been kicking around how I want the MC to attend Beacon.
Part of me wanted him to end up on a team with Cardin but another part wanted him to be on no team and just have him join other teams on missions/team assignments.
Let me know which you would prefer or if there is a third option you want.

Alex Pov:
I sighed again as I looked over my equipment in the locker.
My short sword, check. My new dust revolver, check. Three dust explosives, check. My will to live...
Yup can't see it here.
My inner dread was interrupted as Jaune opened the locker next to me.
I raised an eyebrow at him as he nervously grabbed his gear.
"You ok man?" I asked as he literally jumped at my voice.
"W-what? Yeah, I'm fine. No w-worries here!" Jaune was absolutely losing it.
I gave him a reassuring smile as I put my hand on his shoulder. "Look at me."
He stopped as the dark circles under my eyes did little to calm him down. "If you die, what do you want me to tell your family?"
Jaune went white. Like paper white. It was kind of impressive.
I couldn't help laughing as he started to actually think about what his last words should be.
I had to flick his forehead pretty hard to get him out of it. "Hey. Listen. It doesn't matter if you die. Just keep focused. The world could literally explode, a sinkhole could kill you right now. A hoard of grim could overrun the school and eat us all."
Jaune looked at me with growing worry and confusion. However I didn't let him get a word in.
"So stop worrying about what if and could be. Take everything one step at a time and keep walking. You made it this far. Are you going to back out now?"
My words seemed to, not quite help. However Jaune wasn't literally shaking in his boots anymore.
I handed him his sword and shield as I closed his locker. "So stop waiting for life to happen and go get it." I then pushed Jaune forward as he nodded to himself.
"Right, I got this!" He proclaimed as he marched straight towards White and a red head.
'Yup he's fucked.' Was all I thought as I closed my locker and made my way to the exit.
Only my hopes were dashed by the blond and Red from last night.
"Hey, window guy." The blond called out to me.
"Hey, Yellow." I replied sarcastically.
She smiled as she waved to Red. "You two know each other right? Maybe you can be on the same team."
Red seemed less than thrilled with the topic but didn't outright disdain it.
I gave Yellow a shrug. "No idea, aren't they random or something?"
Red seemed to almost shatter like glass at that.
"Really? I didn't think about that." Yellow hummed thoughtfully.
Red seeing an opportunity to change the subject cut in. "Hey, you had that cool scythe yesterday right? Where is it? Did you make it yourself? Can I see it?"
I raised my hands in pleading as my head swam with her questions.
"Slow down Red. One thing at a time. I was up all night so it would be nice if we took things slow yeah?" Yellow snickered at the unintended innuendo. I promptly ignored it.
Red gave me an empathetic look as she slowed down. "Ok, can I see your weapon?"
I smiled now as both me and Yellow snickered at Red's unintended innuendo. Red puffed her cheeks as she groaned. "You know what I mean!"
I smiled warmly as I held up my hands to calm her fury. "Ok ok. There's a problem with that question."
I then summoned my short sword and revolver as I held them up to her. "I have a literal armory at my disposal. It would take days to show you all of them."
Red's eyes widened in absolute glee. However her hopes were interrupted by the call of the intercom. It was time for the big test.
I gave Red an apologetic smile. "Till next time then." I then let my sword and gun dissolve back into my aura.
She nodded with a sigh as she walked off with Yellow. Yellow was giving Red a knowing smile as she immediately started to tease Red.
I couldn't hear what she said but based on the cartoonish steam coming off Red's head. It was probably spot on.
I then kept going as I thought over what I would do. A small part of me wandered if I managed to get a chess peice and bring it back without making eye contact with anyone would I be on a three man team or on my own?
I shook the thought free as I stepped out of the locker room and walked down the hall.
My musings were interrupted by a larger guy in plate armor with a mace. My first thought was. 'Wow, what a punchible face.'
The guy had that look about him. The one where confidence had gone over the line of arrogance. The 'my shit don't stink' kind of look.
My thoughts were almost immediately proven correct as he shoulder checked a smaller kid. Nearly running him over.
I nodded to myself as the true weight of responsibility settled on me. The mace guy's name had to be special. Something crafted specifically for him with an intellectual tinge.
'Hmm... Ah, I got it. He's Lord of The Flies, Belz.' I nodded to myself in self satisfaction as Belz made his way down the hall. Imaginary flies swarming their lordly pile of shit.
Yeah I'm probably going to break some legs if guys like him get in.
I shook my head with disappointment as Jaune trudged up next to me. A new hole in his hoodie. "Why are girls so complicated." He grumbled to me as I snorted.
"Don't ask me man, I don't have any experience there. I'm a gamer through and through." I smiled confidently.
The same confidence that shattered immediately under a sad look from Jaune. "You need help." Was all he offered as he walked forward.
'Well fuck you too. My games are real now. I'll just summon an armored core and dunk on the haters.'
My thoughts then drifted to that very thought. How much aura would I need to summon a proper armored core.
