Ten days later, Yuki Seisui was idly buying breakfast near his home, planning to bring it along to the Panda Clan's territory to eat.
Just then, Minato came rushing over in a hurry.
Seeing Minato's anxious face, Seisui teased, "Minato, I'm not Kushina, so what are you running so fast for?"
"Hah… Seisui!" Minato panted heavily. "The Uzumaki Clan… they've been wiped out."
"Mito-sama asked me to find you."
Hearing those words, Seisui froze. The Uzumaki Clan… destroyed?
Then he quickly came back to his senses.
"Let's go. Now."
Uzumaki Mito had always treated him kindly. If she was calling for him now, of course he'd go.
Without hesitation, Seisui and Minato leapt onto the rooftops, darting swiftly toward the Senju Clan compound.
They arrived soon after.
The moment they stepped inside, Seisui noticed Hiruzen Sarutobi and Danzo were already there.
Alongside them stood Koharu Utatane, Homura Mitokado, Akimichi Torifu, and several stern-looking elderly men, their expressions filled with anger.
When Seisui entered, everyone turned to stare at him in unison, leaving him slightly confused.
He had assumed Mito-sama wanted him and Minato to comfort Kushina after hearing of her clan's tragedy.
But judging from this atmosphere… something felt off.
Uzumaki Mito was the first to speak, her gaze sweeping across the gathered shinobi.
"He is a descendant of the Uzumaki Clan."
She had already told Hiruzen about Seisui's bloodline long ago, but the others were hearing it for the first time.
A collective look of shock spread through the room.
Danzo, who had already been scheming how to win Seisui over, now stared at him with barely concealed greed. The glint in his eyes grew even hotter.
Feeling that gaze, Seisui shivered slightly.
This old man better not be getting any strange ideas…
When their eyes met, Danzo actually gave him a "kind" smile.
Seisui returned a stiff, awkward one of his own.
Minato, standing beside them, was completely dumbfounded.
Wait, what?! Since when is my childhood friend a descendant of the Uzumaki Clan?
"Well, that's unexpected," Homura Mitokado muttered. "Who would've thought Yuki Seisui carried Uzumaki blood?"
Mito ignored him and turned to Minato.
"Minato, go inside and comfort Kushina. She's having a hard time right now."
Minato nodded seriously and left the room.
Once he was gone, Mito looked back at Seisui.
"You must be quite confused right now, aren't you?"
Seisui nodded.
He wasn't actually an Uzumaki descendant, or at least, he didn't think he was.
And even if he was, what did she want from him now?
Mito forced a small smile, though her grief was written across her face. It was understandable, who could stay calm after their entire clan had been wiped out?
"I asked you here today because I intend to pass down the Uzumaki Clan's sealing techniques to you."
Her tone grew solemn as she swept her gaze around the room.
"With the clan destroyed, only you and Kushina carry Uzumaki blood now."
"I know you're currently studying Sage Arts, but you two must also inherit our sealing jutsu."
Between Kushina and Seisui, Mito clearly favored Seisui as the heir to her clan's legacy.
In Konoha, aside from them, no one else truly carried the Uzumaki line, Tsunade and Nawaki weren't counted.
Seisui's talent and strength far surpassed Kushina's, and his temperament was more composed.
He was also a man, something the clan had fewer and fewer of in recent generations.
At first, Mito thought Seisui's bloodline was faint, but over time she realized it was awakening.
His hair remained black, with only the faintest red tint visible under sunlight, yet his Uzumaki blood burned vividly within him.
"Everyone is here to bear witness," she declared.
"From this day forth, Yuki Seisui and Uzumaki Kushina will inherit the sealing arts of the Uzumaki Clan. They are the future of our lineage!"
She then retrieved a massive scroll from her side, within it, every secret sealing technique the Uzumaki Clan had ever created.
Seisui stared blankly as she spoke.
I just drew Kushina's character template… how did I suddenly become one of the last Uzumaki alive?
As Mito extended the scroll to him, Seisui hesitated.
Seeing his reluctance, Mito simply rose, pressed the scroll into his hands, and said softly,
"From now on, the duty of reviving the Uzumaki Clan will rest with you and Kushina."
Her words carried… implications, but Seisui ignored them and frowned.
"But I'm just one person, "
Mito waved a hand dismissively. "Then have more children with that Uchiha girl of yours."
"And Kushina and Minato should have more as well. That way, the Uzumaki will live again."
Hiruzen nodded in full agreement.
"She's right, Seisui. Take it. Right now, you and Kushina are the last Uzumaki alive in the ninja world. You both must carry this burden."
Seisui could only nod in response.
He was genuinely interested in sealing techniques, but between training Sage Mode and all his current responsibilities, time was scarce.
Still, he accepted the scroll.
Satisfied, Mito added, "Now go. Kushina needs comfort. The loss of her clan has hit her hard."
Seisui nodded silently and headed toward the other room.
The moment he left, Danzo spoke up sharply, "This vengeance must be repaid! The Uzumaki were our allies!"
He was truly angry, he'd been planning to recruit some Uzumaki members into Root, and now they were all gone.
Since founding Root, he'd been struggling to find recruits; losing the Uzumaki was a huge blow.
"Starting a war now would break Konoha," Homura said gravely.
He and Koharu oversaw Konoha's logistics, they knew better than anyone that the village couldn't handle another conflict.
Hiruzen sighed deeply.
"For now, send out teams to search. See if any Uzumaki survivors can be found."
Mito nodded. "Do as you see fit. But I have one request, "
Her eyes hardened.
"Protect Seisui and Kushina. If anything happens to them, don't say I didn't warn you."
Her tone grew stern, her presence almost suffocating.
"Rest assured, Mito-sama," Hiruzen said, bowing slightly. "I will protect them both."
After all, Seisui and Kushina represented the continuation of the Uzumaki name, and by extension, his own legacy as Hokage.
Seisui, unaware of the weight of that conversation, stood quietly outside another room.
Inside, Kushina sobbed uncontrollably in Minato's arms.
He hesitated, not knowing whether to enter.
Tsunade noticed him immediately and called out, "Hey, brat! Get in here already!"
Her voice was loud enough to startle anyone. Seisui chuckled faintly and stepped inside.
"So you're an Uzumaki too, huh?" Tsunade clicked her tongue twice. "Can't believe Jiraiya lucked out with you two as disciples."
She conveniently forgot that Hiruzen had once offered her the same opportunity.
"Mmm, Uzumaki Seisui, huh?" she muttered. "Whatever. I'll go grab Nawaki, beating him up always helps relieve stress."
And with that, she left.
Seisui could only twitch the corner of his mouth. That poor brother of hers… must've done something terrible in his past life to deserve this sister.
"Beating him feels good," she'd said. Seriously…
Sighing, Seisui looked toward Kushina.
He wasn't good at comforting people, hadn't been in this life or the last.
"Just… cry it out," he said quietly, taking a seat.
Sometimes, letting it all out was the only real way to ease the pain.
So there they stayed, Minato unmoving, Seisui seated across from them, while Kushina wept bitterly.
After a long while, Tsunade returned, dragging a beaten-up Nawaki behind her.
"Enough crying," she said bluntly. "Go beat him up instead. Works like a charm."
She threw Nawaki down beside Seisui.
"Uh… long time no see," Nawaki said awkwardly, straightening his clothes.
"Nawaki," Seisui asked, "you got any explosive tags on you?"
"Explosive tags?" he blinked, then pulled out a stack and handed them over. "What for? Practicing sealing jutsu?"
Seisui shook his head. "Not exactly. I just need them for something."
Nawaki nodded, pretending to understand. He had a bunch anyway, since Kushina started studying sealing arts, he was swimming in the things.
Seisui gave him a mischievous grin.
He hadn't forgotten to "repay" Nawaki for the last time, but back then, he hadn't had the chance. Now that Tsunade herself had tossed her brother in as stress relief, how could he refuse?
He looked at Tsunade. "You're sure about this?"
"Go wild," she said with arms crossed, unconcerned. "That's what little brothers are for."
"Then how about you join in too, Tsunade-sis?" Seisui said shamelessly.
Hearing him call her sis, Tsunade smirked. She'd never actually experienced Seisui's unique bloodline limit in person before, this might be interesting.
"Fine. Let's see what you've got," she said, just as Seisui extended his hand toward the air.
In the next instant, the world around them shifted.
Tsunade's vision spun as she suddenly found herself standing in an endless, wide-open arena, Seisui's Duel Arena.
Since Nawaki had been standing closest to Seisui outside, he appeared nearest to him here as well. Before Nawaki could react, Seisui swiftly slapped an explosive tag onto his back.
He couldn't use sealing jutsu, but a simple trap like this? Perfectly effective.
Meanwhile, Kushina, who had been crying moments ago, instantly stopped upon realizing they were inside the Duel Arena.
"Nawaki, ready yourself," Tsunade said with a grin that made him shiver.
To Nawaki, her expression looked less like a smile and more like a death sentence.
"Wait, wait—!"
He tried to run, but the duel countdown had already begun.
"Three… two… one…"
Tsunade didn't move, she was just curious about this place. She'd already beaten Nawaki countless times before; she was over it.
Neither Minato nor Seisui moved either.
"You guys just wait, !" Nawaki shouted, bolting away.
Minato caught sight of the explosive tag on his back and was about to warn him, but Seisui stopped him with a hand on his shoulder.
"He's too reckless. Better he learns a lesson here than die on the battlefield later."
Tsunade nodded. "Agreed. You can let him die a few times here, it'll toughen him up."
Even she, a legendary kunoichi, had nearly died to Hanzo the Salamander once.
If she barely made it out alive, what chance did her little brother have?
"Kushina," Tsunade called, "you've always wanted to beat Nawaki, right? Here's your chance!"
At those words, Kushina's expression shifted. Her red hair floated in the air, chakra flaring dangerously.
Minato gulped, elbowing Seisui. "She looks… terrifying like that."
Seisui nodded. The last time he'd seen her like this was when she'd wrecked half the Ninja Academy sparring field.
