Wyatt Winslow paused, then said with great seriousness, "Holly is a girl, and girls can be more vulnerable than boys. I hope you'll always consider her well-being, which is also for your own good."
"Once you're both able to stand on your own, I won't manage or interfere with your lives."
"Is that okay?"
That last phrase, "Is that okay?", was clearly out of respect for Mortimer Quincy, or perhaps out of consideration for Holly's feelings.
When it came to his daughter's puppy love, Wyatt Winslow had indeed considered many things. He had struggled for a long time to move from his initial disapproval to his current acceptance.
"Uncle Winslow, don't worry. I won't do anything I'm not supposed to," Mortimer promised, meeting his gaze directly, though his words didn't sound entirely convincing.
Wyatt Winslow nodded. "Good."
After that, neither of them said anything else.
