His last words made Annabelle Linton's eyes well up again.
'I don't know what to feel.'
'I'm getting engaged to him tomorrow, yet I'm still caught up with my ex-husband and I even lied to Aaron. I'm such a terrible person.'
She threw her arms around him and cried for a long, long time. Aaron Wyatt comforted her in a low voice, then carried her upstairs.
Upstairs, Aaron Wyatt got a clean towel. He cupped her face with one hand and gently wiped away her tears with the other, murmuring for her to stop crying.
After he dried her face, they ate the dinner he had prepared. It had gotten a little cold, so he reheated it, explaining he'd made it an hour ago.
When they finished eating, he ran a bath for her and then dried her hair.
Once everything was taken care of, he tucked her in and went to his own apartment next door to sleep.
He had promised he wouldn't touch her before they were married.
Annabelle said, "Thank you."
