Lara Nash clutched her head in frustration. Recalling the smile he'd just given her—one so gentle it could melt a person—she couldn't help but shiver. 'This man is so calculating,' she thought. 'He said he wouldn't do *that* kind of thing to me if I stayed, but could he be planning to win me over with a charm offensive?'
Cheryl Nash pouted, looking at the clothes scattered all over the floor. "Papa, I want to wear the prettiest one to see Grandma and Grandpa!"
Ronan Joyce patiently coaxed her, "But Daddy thinks all your clothes are beautiful. It's impossible to find the 'prettiest' one. Besides, you're so cute and pretty, Grandma and Grandpa will love you no matter what you wear."
"Really?"
The little girl tilted her head and asked. He chuckled softly. "Why would Daddy lie to you? Let's see... How about we go with this pink one?"
Ronan Joyce pulled a pink puffer jacket from the pile of clothes. Cheryl Nash nodded vigorously. "Okay!"
