"Su Nuo..." The man's voice softened. "I'll give you the best of everything."
"I can earn it with my own two hands." Su Nuo glanced at her slender, jade-like fingers, shook her head gently, then looked up at him. "I don't want a flashy, superficial marriage like this."
"I got carried away before. I even forgot that I'm only eighteen, an age when I should be enjoying my youth."
"Flashy and superficial?"
"Yes. We rushed into this marriage, and our entire relationship is held together by two little booklets. No flowers, no wedding. This isn't what I want."
"You care about those things?" the man asked, his thin lips slightly parted as he gazed at her intently.
Su Nuo shrugged and smiled. "Why wouldn't I care? I'm not the type to chase after some platonic love. You think too highly of me."
The man was silent for a long time before finally saying, "I can give you all of that, but a divorce is out of the question."
