Feng Ling suddenly spoke just as Gu'er started to walk away.
Gu'er turned to look at her. Feng Ling was looking down, wiping her eyes.
"This is a matter between you two. You should go talk to him yourself. No matter what you're thinking, if you just explain it clearly to Li Zhi, he'll listen. It wouldn't be right for me to go down with you."
Gu'er wanted them to resolve it themselves.
"I'm a little scared. I just want to ask him a few questions. If… if it's really, really not going to work out between us, then I'll give up and leave this place for good."
A flicker of anguish crossed Feng Ling's face.
Gu'er felt a pang of pity watching her.
"Fine, I'll go downstairs with you. But if he's not there, I won't help you search. You know I can't move around easily right now."
Gu'er nodded.
"Thank you."
Feng Ling thanked her for agreeing. As Gu'er turned away, she missed the complicated glint in Feng Ling's eyes.
