Cara Preston said with a gentle expression, "Isn't this a little... inappropriate?"
"What's inappropriate about it!" Elise Langdon huffed. "Vera Xavier brought this on herself, so she can't blame us. It's her own fault for being so devious, always thinking about how to cheat. I want to see how she's going to handle this!"
In truth, there was no real grudge between Elise Langdon and Vera Xavier. Cara Preston had simply instigated things between them, which was why Elise detested Vera.
Cara Preston, however, was feeling quite smug. After the way Nathaniel Nathan had treated her that morning, she would never blame him. Therefore, she could only pin all the blame on Vera Xavier.
'In my opinion,' she thought, 'if it weren't for Vera's meddling, there's no way Nathaniel would have treated me like that! Not with my track record of being loved by everyone I meet!'
