"Oh, okay."
........
That evening, Hannah Hale went straight home after work.
"Ma'am, you're back. Dinner is ready."
Mrs. Miller said cheerfully as she placed the last soup on the dining table, greeting Hannah Hale who had just walked in.
Hannah Hale smiled and nodded. "I'm just going upstairs to change."
"Of course, ma'am."
Mrs. Miller kept calling her "ma'am," which Hannah Hale found a little awkward.
Back in the bedroom, Hannah Hale took a quick shower in the bathroom and changed into a set of cotton loungewear before coming out.
When she came downstairs, Nathan Redgrave was already sitting at the dining table.
Hannah Hale glanced at Nathan Redgrave. As she walked past him, a text message came in on the phone lying on the table, and she stole a peek.
It was that same string of numbers with no name saved.
She remembered that number. It belonged to that girl.
