"Is it really that dramatic? You're sitting here perfectly fine, aren't you?"
Zachary Redgrave looked pained, as if he'd suffered a terrible loss. He sighed, defeated. "That heartless uncle of mine... he actually canceled my credit card."
"Nathan Redgrave is back?"
Hannah Hale tilted her head, asking as if it were a casual afterthought.
Laura Lowell and Zachary Redgrave exchanged a look. With a silent, mutual understanding, they decided not to tell Hannah that they had gone to find Nathan Redgrave.
"Yeah, he's back."
Zachary Redgrave's reply was deliberately vague.
Hannah Hale's lips tightened, but she didn't say anything else.
But the disappointment she couldn't quite hide in her eyes made her seem especially melancholic.
Zachary Redgrave nudged Hannah Hale with his elbow. "Come on, have a few drinks with me."
"Sure."
Laura Lowell didn't try to stop them. 'Maybe getting drunk will help her feel a little better,' she thought.
