'Could I have been wrong?'
"No sound at all? Miss Sterling and the boss didn't get into a fight?" Sean Carter asked.
Ms. Sutton shot Sean Carter a look as if he were an idiot. "What are you talking about? Miss Sterling is such a quiet, delicate young lady. How could she possibly get into a fight with him? Besides, even if she wanted to, she wouldn't stand a chance. He's so tall and sturdy. If he really came to blows with Miss Sterling, he'd hurt her badly, wouldn't he?" Then, Ms. Sutton lowered her voice conspiratorially. "From what you're saying... don't tell me he hits women? That's not a good habit to have, but I didn't take him for that kind of person."
Seeing Ms. Sutton's expression, it was clear she'd misunderstood something, leaving Sean Carter at a loss. 'Looks like another one's been fooled by Miss Sterling's delicate appearance,' he thought. 'She really thinks Miss Sterling is a harmless kitten.'
