When the doctor said the words, "The patient's condition is grim," Aurora Sterling faltered. But this time, she held back her tears, her eyes fixed on Mrs. Sterling.
"Mom! Oh my god, Mom! What's wrong? Mom, open your eyes and look at me!" Timothy Sterling threw himself beside the stretcher, wailing in agony.
"Don't you dare cry!" Aurora Sterling warned Timothy Sterling in a cold voice, wiping the lingering tears from her cheeks.
Timothy Sterling's attention was entirely on the unconscious Mrs. Sterling. He completely ignored Aurora's warning, remaining hunched over the stretcher, grief-stricken.
"I said, stop crying!" Aurora Sterling raised her voice, glaring icily at Timothy Sterling.
This time, Timothy Sterling heard her and stared blankly at his daughter.
Aurora, however, was no longer looking at him. Her anxious gaze was fixed on Mrs. Sterling.
Aurora had cried earlier because she was worried about Mrs. Sterling, desperate to find her.
