After a quick call to Sean Carter to report the attack, the sound of footsteps giving chase from upstairs grew louder.
"Damn it!" Aurora cursed. She knew running wasn't a real solution. Her only option now was to hide Damien and wait for Sean's rescue.
By now, Aurora had no idea how many floors they'd descended. As the sound of their pursuers grew closer, she made a split-second decision, helping Damien out of the stairwell.
Only after leaving the stairwell did she realize they were on the movie theater floor.
At this hour, the theater was nearly empty, save for a few staff members and a handful of patrons leaving after their movie.
Aurora's first thought was to blend in with the departing patrons, but she and Damien were far too conspicuous. Besides, she was holding a gun, and her white dress was stained with blood. Showing up in a crowd like that would undoubtedly cause a panic.
