Upon seeing Sharon Sterling, Mrs. Sterling gave her a rare, radiant, and gentle smile. This was the first time Mrs. Sterling had smiled so kindly at her since learning that Sharon was the daughter of Timothy Sterling and Joy Dalton, making Sharon wonder for a moment if she was hallucinating.
"Sharon, you're back. Why didn't Aurora come home with you?" Mrs. Sterling asked with a smile.
Joy Dalton quickly chimed in from the side, "Mom, have you forgotten? Aurora said she was going to see a friend tonight and would be back a little later."
Mrs. Sterling then smiled and nodded. "That's right. I must be so happy I've forgotten everything."
Timothy Sterling was beaming, just like Mrs. Sterling.
Mrs. Sterling beckoned to Sharon Sterling. "What are you doing just standing there? Come sit down."
