She turned to look at a panicked Poppy Vance.
Poppy Vance hid the medicine she was holding behind her back. She offered the glass of water in her other hand, smiling unnaturally. "Clara, here, have some water."
Clara Grant took the glass but didn't drink. She set it on the table, her eyes glancing at the hand Poppy had been hiding, then back at her face. "Poppy, are you really pregnant?"
"What are you talking about, Clara? I already told you, I'm not pregnant. My stomach has just been a bit upset recently..."
"Does an upset stomach require folic acid?" Clara cut her off. "I may have never been pregnant, but I know that folic acid is something pregnant women take. Poppy, tell me the truth. Are you pregnant?"
In truth, after seeing her dry-heaving the last time and now seeing the bottle of folic acid, Clara already knew the answer. She just wanted to confirm it.
Pinned by her stare, Poppy Vance bit her lip and looked down for a long moment before finally giving a slight nod.
