"Jie Jingsi, when do you go back to work?" Qin Mei asked.
"Tomorrow," Jie Jingchen replied. There was a hint of emotion in his tone, and Qin Mei caught it.
'He heard me tricking Jing Qi. He's upset about it!'
Qin Mei didn't respond, closing her eyes to rest.
After hanging the clothes to dry, Jie Jingchen walked over to Qin Mei and sat down in the wicker chair beside her. He leaned in close to her ear and asked in a low voice, "Why did you lie to Jing Qi?"
Qin Mei tensed up. She opened her eyes and gazed at Jie Jingchen's face, so close to her own. After a moment of daze, she acted on a strange impulse, reaching out to trace his perfectly chiseled features with her fingertips.
"Meimei." Jie Jingchen's throat tightened as he grasped her slender wrist.
