Carrying a bag filled with large pieces of candy and canned goods, Xu Changqing stepped through her family's gate. She had barely taken two steps into the courtyard when she saw her mother, Bai Xiulan.
"Mom, I'm back."
Hearing her voice, Bai Xiulan turned and reflexively glanced behind Xu Changqing. "...Why are you back so early? Didn't you stay to help Brother Wei Min finish tidying up his place?"
'Still early?'
Xu Changqing couldn't help but glance west. The sun had already set, that was for sure. "I did. I only came back after everything was tidied up. What are you trying to get? I can grab it for you."
"I'm not getting anything. I just came out to see if it was snowing." As she spoke, Bai Xiulan's gaze moved to her daughter's feet. "How did you get back?"
Seeing her mother looking, Xu Changqing lifted her right foot. "They're not wet. I took the Xiangyang Team's horse-drawn cart back. Brother Wei Min wanted to escort me, but I didn't let him."
