Perhaps out of sheer surprise, Naomi Kenway froze for a moment.
Anson Colt studied her expression, then sighed. "Am I asking too much? You don't have to feel pressured."
"Not at all. It would be my honor. I've never forgotten how you've looked after me." Naomi Kenway lowered her gaze slightly. "Ever since my mother passed away, I haven't really felt this kind of care from an elder. It's my honor to become your god-granddaughter, Grandpa."
Anson Colt burst into a hearty laugh. He stroked his salt-and-pepper beard, but his eyes welled up. He nodded repeatedly, tears streaming down his face, and excitedly gripped Naomi Kenway's hand. "Wonderful, wonderful! Good girl! From now on, with me around, no one will dare bully you! I'll pick an auspicious date, and we'll throw a grand banquet. I want everyone in Veridia to know that I, Anson Colt, have a granddaughter!"
