'What's that supposed to mean? Is he some kind of unkillable cockroach?'
Rorschach's hand, poised to seal the memory, hesitated.
By now, Rorschach had figured out the pattern by which the Tower Spirit retrieved memories. The first layer drew upon the Ancient Sage's past behaviors and mannerisms, fashioning them into a "personality." The second was a web woven from knowledge, capable of providing limited answers and analysis.
The deepest layer concerned the sealed portion he now held in his hand.
It wouldn't be entirely accurate to say the Ancient Sage had forbidden anyone from seeing it; otherwise, he wouldn't have gone to the trouble of sealing it within the Artificial Soul. He had left behind a clever restriction that caused the Tower Spirit to provide specific answers based on the hidden memories and knowledge.
However, such answers only made Rorschach extremely uncomfortable.
"Give me one reason not to explore it."
