"Guthrie, I'm going to pick up Tiger."
Indie Lowell checked the time on her phone, then rinsed her hands under the nearby water pipe.
Titus Miles, who was just outside, quickly pushed the door open and came in.
Startling the two women in the courtyard.
"Tiger, how are you out of school so early?"
"My teacher took the day off." Carrying his small backpack, Titus Miles walked into the courtyard with little enthusiasm. After greeting Flora Guthrie, he turned to go inside the house.
"What's wrong? Did you do poorly on a test?" Titus Miles shook his head and pulled a test with a perfect score from his bag.
"You did wonderfully! Mom will make you braised fish tonight."
Indie Lowell was delighted and reached out to pat Titus Miles on the head.
But Titus Miles suddenly dodged her touch, clutching his small backpack and running into the house.
"What's wrong? Tiger..."
But Titus Miles ran into his little room, dove under the covers, and looked as if he had been deeply wronged.
