Luna Jennings was stunned, her heart leaping with joy. She smiled and called out, "Mr. C..."
A strange look flickered in Benjamin Morgan's eyes, and the hand he was using to get water paused for a moment.
"Have you eaten?"
"No. Mr. C, let me treat you to a meal! Consider it my apology for the other day."
Benjamin Morgan picked up his cup, turned around, and pushed up his glasses. "Didn't you already buy me something to apologize?"
"But it wasn't what you liked."
"Is whether I like it or not that important?"
"It is. Forcing yourself to accept something you don't like—isn't that awful?"
Benjamin Morgan froze.
The girl before him wasn't exceptionally stunning, nor did her aura compare to the daughters of the Great Families he had met. But she gave off a feeling of peace and comfort.
Especially now, as she looked at him with such righteous conviction, her eyes were bright and very beautiful.
