Ruth Winslow choked.
A hint of shyness colored her usually cool expression.
A blush gradually spread across her fair cheeks, reaching the tips of her ears.
Beta Morgan quickly handed her some water and said worriedly, "Slow down. I might have added a little too much chili."
Ruth Winslow took the cup and gulped down two mouthfuls, which helped to suppress the strange feeling a little.
"Thanks…"
Ruth Winslow put the cup aside and went back to eating the sour and spicy noodles.
Beta Morgan rested his chin in his hands, watching her eat. For some reason, it gave him a sense of satisfaction.
But Ruth Winslow grew increasingly flustered under his gaze, and her heart began to beat a little faster.
Her fair face grew redder and redder, until Beta Morgan finally noticed something was amiss.
"What's wrong? Is it too spicy?"
Ruth Winslow shook her head, nearly burying it in her bowl as she slurped another mouthful of noodles.
