The piercing sound of something tearing through the air echoed under the night sky.
Flaming arrows arced through the air, soaring toward the wolf pack that had burst from the mountain forest.
THWACK! THWACK!
"AWOOO~!"
Howls filled the air. Most of the arrows missed their mark, and only a few found their targets.
But these forest wolves were twice the size of normal ones. Ordinary arrows only pierced their skin before the arrowheads got stuck.
As the wolves sprinted and scraped against trees, the arrows all fell out.
Not a single wolf was killed in the first volley.
Still, they were beasts, and they instinctively feared fire.
The flaming arrowheads that hit the ground formed a blazing circle of fire around the convoy.
The pack prowled swiftly outside the ring of fire, their low growls incessant.
Every so often, they would charge violently at the defensive wall formed by shield-bearers, creating dull, thudding impacts.
