Chapter 59 - We've made it 10

(Maëva's POV)

– GO

It's so exciting.

The flag completed its journey.

Irene folded it up hastily before hurrying away from the track.

The applause and songs of the public accompanied him at every step, but strangely he did not take the planned path; on the contrary, he rushed forward and jumped over the protective barrier; he was already on the other side before I realized it.

– Iréné!

I exclaimed in surprise.

I tighten my grip on the stack of papers that had almost flown away due to the impact.

He definitely bumped into me on purpose.

– watch out, four-eyes

I murmured, adjusting my notes.

This idiot didn't even answer me and instead gave me his sinister smile which did not inspire confidence.

And I wasn't wrong.

He suddenly walks behind me.

Shit.

The ground is lifting up beneath my feet, I feel unbalanced, lifted.

I closed my eyes instinctively, and my pile of papers will be stronger.

– YOU'RE A COMPLETELY SICK MAN!, you idiot..

I muttered insults under my breath as I fought to keep from falling.

He started shaking me while laughing.

He was making fun of me.

"You've become very tiresome," he snapped at me.

That was all he could think to say.

I couldn't help but roll my eyes at his statement.

– I didn't force you.

It had been a long time since we had just behaved so naturally.

Like kids our age who didn't need to think or worry about the consequences of their actions.

The rest of the world no longer exists here, no more parents, no more fighting and no rules to follow even though I didn't yet have the courage to completely abandon my home.

A smile suddenly stretched across my tense face; I hadn't even noticed it.

I take a deep breath and spread my arms wide to face the wind.

The roar of the engines came back to me in melody, from here everything seems different, like real little stars tracing their own constellation on the asphalt, the stars descended to me from the sky.

– hey! Binoculars?

- What?

I take a deep breath and stifle my laughter

– Do you know why, if your father had been a thief, he wouldn't have put stars in your eyes?

He sighed and threw

– no, explain

I started laughing

– Well, you're a player, you've already shared them all.

"No kidding," he hissed sarcastically.

BRINNNN

A cloud of dust rose.

BOOM! MMMMMMMPH~
