35 The Five-Heaven Seal
Pakun slowed and stopped, claws digging into the dirt.
"This is the place."
Everyone's eyes went to the cliff face. A single massive boulder sat wedged into it, broad, heavy, ordinary at first glance. No cracks. No opening. Just stone.
Naruto stepped forward anyway.
He knelt, brushing his fingers across the surface. The moment his chakra touched it, the illusion peeled back in his senses. Lines. Layers. A structure too precise to be natural.
"This is a Five-Heaven Seal," he said calmly, standing up and turning to the others. "High-level. Meant to lock something away completely, not just hide it."
Before anyone could respond, movement flashed through the trees.
A blur of green landed nearby.
"Yo!" Guy's voice rang out, bright as ever.
Behind him, Neji, Lee, and Tenten fanned out, instantly alert. The sudden arrival froze the moment, then shifted it.
Kakashi gave a small nod. "Perfect timing."
After a quick exchange, the situation was laid out. Gaara. Akatsuki. The sealed cave.
Guy's smile sharpened with focus. "Then leave this to us."
Without hesitation, they synced their radios to the shared frequency. The team moved as one, sprinting toward the boulder, already assessing angles, seal points, and positions.
Lee cracked his knuckles. Neji's Byakugan flared to life. Tenten reached for her scrolls.
Naruto stepped back, watching them work.
"Guess we brought the right people," he muttered.
The boulder loomed silently, seals humming beneath the stone.
Not for long.
We waited in tense silence, eyes fixed on the boulder.
A few minutes passed. Then Kakashi's radio crackled.
"Seal removed," Guy's voice came through, sharp and satisfied.
That was all the confirmation we needed.
Shizune stepped forward, rolling her shoulders once as she tightened her gloves. Her expression hardened, all hesitation gone. She planted her feet, drew in a breath, and drove her fist forward.
The impact was brutal.
The boulder didn't crack. It detonated.
Stone burst outward in a violent wave, chunks of rock flying as dust swallowed the clearing. The ground shuddered under the force, and when the debris settled, the cliff face was no longer sealed.
A dark opening yawned where the boulder had been.
The cave was open.
Naruto narrowed his eyes, chakra already stirring. "No turning back now."
Kakashi adjusted his headband, Sharingan ready. "Stay sharp. Once we go in, they'll know we're here."
The air from the cave was cold, heavy, and wrong.
Without another word, the team moved forward into the darkness.
