"CHICHI! I CAN'T HOLD IT!" Kakarot screamed, his eyes the solid red of Ikari mode as he kept the 'dimensional rupture' that connected this strange, dark demon dimension that he and Chichi had invaded in order to save someone who, as it turned out, had been a demon trying to trick them into staying and getting eaten all along.
"Just a little longer!" Chichi shouted, as a tentacle from one of the monsters chasing her wrapped around her ankle, slowing her manic flight toward the dimensional tear.
Looking backwards with disdain, Chichi thrust her hands out behind her, releasing a massive shockwave that blasted her forward while simultaneously shredding the tentacle, forcing it to release her.
Kakarot's brain felt like it was melting as he forced the dimensional tear open, despite the fact that space itself wanted it to close, and he was not strong enough to attack space itself and genuinely succeed.
Then, he appeared.
A giant, nearly twenty meters tall, with red skin and rippling muscles. "CHICHI!" Kakarot shouted, as the giant crossed the distance between the monster horde and Chichi.
Chichi reacted quickly. "GET AWAY FROM ME!" Spinning in midair, she charged a strong ki blast and chucked it at the ceiling without hesitation. The rock instantly gave way, burying most of the monsters beneath several tons of rubble. The crab-shelled beast with the long tentacles was squashed flat.
But the red-skinned giant merely lifted one of the rocks over its head and threw it toward Chichi with a growl of effort. She dodged downward, still racing toward Kakarot, straining to keep the portal open.
The rock itself sailed right over her head, smashing into the wall near Kakarot's location, raining dust and gravel all over him. Still, Kakarot didn't even bother shaking the dust out of his hair, single-mindedly focused on keeping the portal open, his eyes red with the power of the Ikari pulsing through them.
"Chichi, hurry… UPPP!!!" He screamed.
Chichi let out another shockwave to speed herself up… but she wasn't fast enough.
Time seemed to stop for Kakarot, as the red-skinned giant demon leapt forward, straight through the shockwave Chichi released, and cleanly grabbed onto her leg.
Her mouth made a perfect 'O' of shock as the demon pulled her right out of the air.
Kakarot didn't hesitate. He turned his head and released a massive ki wave from his mouth. The spatial tear halved in size from his lapse in concentration, but the attack flew across the room and slammed into the giant demon's chest.
The demon flew backward… but he didn't let go of Chichi's leg.
Her body jackknifed in the demon's grip, flying backwards alongside it, before slamming directly into the pile of rocks that'd fallen when she'd blasted the ceiling.
Even from his location, Kakarot could see blood running down Chichi's forehead. Her eyes had shut… she was unconscious.
Kakarot didn't hesitate. His eyes instantly switched from being red-colored to gold-colored, his hair color switched from a deep black color to a light blonde.
BOOM!
Without hesitation, Kakarot released a massive shockwave behind him, propelling him toward the giant pile of rocks that the demons were already starting to peek over. "CHICHIII!" He screamed, stomping on the chest of the massive demon holding her with enough force that it instantly exploded into a bloody mess, killing the giant instantly, not that Kakarot showed any care, springboarding off of it to crouch over Chichi's prone body.
"Chichi? Chichi, Chichi are you okay? Come on, Chichi, wake up." She didn't respond, but he could sense the ki inside her body, strong as ever, see the fluttering of her chest, her fluttery, ragged breathing.
He picked her up carefully and laid her behind him in a safer spot, as the demons began climbing over the rubble.
There were hundreds of them. All sorts of different shapes and sizes. Some looked human, usually with an extra extremity or two, maybe four arms or a horn, others looked like twisted pink, blue, purple, green, or yellow amalgamations of people and animals.
No two demons looked exactly the same, or even close.
Their power levels varied. Some, Chichi could have defeated with her power level, which had grown to somewhere in the 80s over the last few months traveling the world with Kakarot, since Krillin won the World Martial Arts tournament.
Some, even Kakarot wouldn't have been able to handle in his normal state, with power levels in the twenty thousands.
Those were strong enough to actually, literally destroy the entirety of planet Earth.
The one that had tricked the couple into the portal, who'd looked human at the time, now had the lower body of a snake, and flew through the air towards the back of the horde.
At first, they poured over the top of the rubble mountain, one or two at a time.
Then, five or six at a time, as the ones less suited to speed and more suited to navigating difficult terrain, made it to the front.
Those fell in one hit, just like the ones before. And after.
Nearly fifty demons had contributed themselves to the hill of bodies piling up around Kakarot before the snake demon at the back of the herd finally made a move, blowing through the rubble with a single fire-based breath attack, allowing the demons to pour through the hole in greater numbers.
Not that it mattered. They all fell the same way. In one attack.
The problem was, with every single attack, Kakarot felt something draining away that he instinctively knew that he couldn't replace.
Two hours passed.
Kakarot's clothes grew scuffed. His power grew strained. With every moment, holding onto SSJP became harder… until, finally, as he swatted aside a fireball from the final demon, the one who'd lured him and Chichi through the portal in the first place, his hair and eyes reverted on their own, his Blutz Energy supply completely and utterly tapped.
"Ka…Me…Ha…Me…HA!" The demon, feeling Kakarot's weakness, attempted to cancel Kakarot's Kamehameha out with a blast of fire.
The Kamehameha slowed for a moment, then engulfed the demon, killing it just like the rest of its horde.
Kakarot stopped for a moment, looking at the smoking battleground in front of him, before turning around.
Chichi was starting to rouse, but she was still unconscious.
As for where the portal had once been?
It'd been replaced with a sprawling desert that continued into the horizon.
They… weren't on Earth anymore.
