"Uhm sorry but what did you say you were again and where did you come from??".
"I am the shadow lord and I come from a distant reality, one of a different plane of existence".
"One may as well call me a god".
I was a bit taken a back by his words, he almost reminded me of the dream I had and if so then he may want to make someone here his champion.
"Did you come…to find a champion??".
There was a grim silence as I stared at the giant white eyes of the shadow lord. There was an an almost tense atmosphere at this point as I also caught looks from my companions around me.
"No, I have no interest of doing such".
"In fact, I'm just like you in a sense, I want to defeat Yaeger".
"Most gods aim solely to take over this world just like Yaeger and many others coming are but all I wish for is to stop Yaeger before he gains enough power to completely best me".
"My world was almost complete destroyed by Yaeger, I managed to fend him off but I know I lack the strength to do so again. I have been watching your world for a long time now and I've managed to come to your world to lend my support".
"I thought gods couldn't really interact with our world".
"I still can't completely interact with it but if you allow me, I may be of assistance".
"Wouldn't you want to know what allowed Yaeger to initiate the merge or where your friends could be".
There was a bit of more silence as I pondered whether we could trust him but eventually Jake spoke out, "Sure, help however you can".
"First, I'll explain how something like the merge could happen".
"Usually all the realms and gods keep to their planes or each others and dont usually enter the realms of you lesser beings but after golb made a pact of some kind with the young human girl".
"Betty??".
"Yes her, there was a rift in the borders which allowed gods like us to traverse far more freely. This ultimately, was the spark for the fire that caused battles between gods".
"They fought over worlds, they fought over champions, some even fought just for the sake of battle. The peaceful multiverse Golb created was destroyed but weirdly enough, he did nothing to fix it".
"He continued to let gods battle, he continued to let worlds be destroyed and now your world is just another one awaiting destruction from the free for all that is reality".
"So this is just our turn to be destroyed??", I asked blankly.
There was a slight hiss from Huntress Wizard behind, Jake's expression looked torn and even Sweet Pea looked stress.
"Perhaps…but that's not to say that's what I want. That's why I said I want to be of help as I've stated".
"Your friends, the vampire girl and the Candy Princess".
"Marceline and Bubblegum??".
"Yes, they're currently being held captive by Yaeger".
I clenched my fists tightly as his words struck, anger rushed into my brain.
"They have also taken the Vampire girls father, he is a god that can actually interact with your world so if they do use him, it can be dangerous".
Although this gods information wasn't exactly verified, if I have a lead on where my friend could be, I'd like to believe it.
"To calm your nerves, I have something for you all. It's not much but I can gift some of you some power of some kind".
"Only if of course, you allow me".
My recent near death experience has left me thinking, admittedly less about myself and more so about my friends.
I don't want to lose anyone else.
"What would it be??".
"For the forest girl, I could grant her a bit of dominion over shadow magic. This could help improve her skills ten fold".
"For you human and for your trusted dog, I can grant you both a small sense. This will help you sense oncoming attacks, giving you an added advantage in suprise attacks".
"What about me??", Sweetpea asked.
"You?? Spawn of the Scholar or Golb?? Please, I wouldn't dare to touch you".
"Admittedly, your presence alone is already keeping me on edge".
"Why would a god be afraid of someone attached to the Lich??", Jake questioned.
"The Lich is an evil entity with remarkable strength and even more remarkable evil and The Lich is far too powerful for me to try and mess with one of his Scholars".
What would Peppermint Butler think?? Oh that's right.
"What about the people who were on the other side of the mountain??".
The giant silhouette shut his eyes for a second then said, "This…this can't be right".
"What's wrong??".
There was a loud crash from above us as light pierced the encompassing darkness, the shadow lord's body shifted and retreated to a darker region as something or someone crashed behind us.
The dust quickly cleared allowing me to see what the piercing light illuminated, the first thing I noticed was Cake.
She laid enlarged but motionless almost like a dead beast with cuts and bruises visible all over her frame.
There was a pool of her blood forming below the wreckage and water, there was someone on top of her.
He was clad in various different armour and tools, he had his sword embedded deep into Cake's body which was the most likely cause of the rushing blood.
He plucked his sword from the giant cat's body then looked up at all of us then focused his cold gaze on me.
He was looking at me but was I looking at a mirror??
He was me??
Only this time with a few more wrinkles, longer hair but it was me.
He rose his sword at me and then said, "Found you".
