Chapter 173 - It Must Have Been Him!

Shijou Anri saw the hypnosis app, and its strange hypnotic power had already spread. However, this silver-haired beauty, who had only recently transferred to the school, was completely unaffected.

Not only was she unaffected, but she could even sense some strange energy attempting to invade her mind.

Although Shijou Anri had only recently come into contact with the mystical side and supernatural powers, she was still an evolved superhuman and possessed a Communication Card.

Naturally, she could perceive a power that ordinary people could not.

Although she didn't know exactly what it was, she knew it definitely wasn't something good.

One second earlier, Morishita Wataru had been immersed in excitement and joy, but the next second he felt as though he had been thrown into an endless winter. A bone-chilling fear engulfed him, and under Shijou Anri's sharp gaze, he trembled inwardly.

"N-No, it's nothing." He unconsciously stepped backward. "I have something to do, so I'll head back to the classroom first."

With that, he turned and left.

What's going on? This can't be! I've clearly hypnotized and controlled Suzu, so why didn't it work on that woman?

What's going on with this hypnosis app? Are there some rules I don't understand?

Morishita Wataru gritted his teeth, panic filling his face, but even more than that, resentment. He wanted to turn all the women in the school into his slaves, his toys! But now his plan had failed, it was like a thorn lodged in his throat, something he couldn't accept.

And...

"That girl is so beautiful. Snow-white silver hair, exquisite features, and such a voluptuous figure. She's not much inferior to Teacher Shirakawa, and she's far more outstanding than the twin sisters. Such a beautiful girl... if only I could make her mine..."

Then why didn't it work?! Why did the hypnosis fail?!

Morishita Wataru racked his brain but couldn't understand it. He clenched his fists tightly, unwilling to accept the outcome.

"At least one of them worked. Anyway, Suzu and I are in the same class. I'll find an opportunity to make her mine first."

"Then I'll figure out how to deal with that silver-haired girl."

In any case, the hypnosis app definitely worked. He would continue experimenting with it.

Once he figured out its rules and limitations, he would definitely get his hands on that glamorous girl who looked almost like a succubus. She seemed to be the transfer student from before.

There was no way he would give up so easily.

Shijou Anri didn't know the Kaede sisters, nor did she know Morishita Wataru.

Although the boy had a gloomy atmosphere about him, she wanted nothing to do with such a person. The only reason she had approached them was because she had sensed that strange power.

"Is this the power of evolution?"

Ever since becoming an evolved superhuman, Shijou Anri felt as though an entirely new world had opened before her. She could see farther, hear more clearly, and her body was filled with strength.

She could even sense the strange energy lingering in the air moments ago.

"Was that also some kind of supernatural ability?"

Having personally experienced this kind of power, Shijou Anri understood just how terrifying it could be. Therefore, she took the male student she had just met very seriously.

"This matter must be important. There are other people with supernatural powers in the school."

Although she didn't know what he had done, it definitely wasn't anything good.

"Hey, are you alright, classmate?" Shijou Anri looked at the girl before her and waved a hand in front of her eyes.

Suzu finally reacted and looked toward her.

Shijou Anri asked, "What are you doing here? What happened just now?"

"What? What happened?" Suzu frowned. "I don't know."

"???"

Something about her expression seemed strange.

"Do you know that boy? What's his name?"

"No."

"Aren't you classmates?"

"Classmates? Which class am I in?"

Shijou Anri froze. She felt that she had to tell Kazuma about this. After all, she was only a beginner, someone who had just stepped into the mystical world and knew very little about these things. Just as she took out her phone, a shout came from afar.

"Suzu! Suzu!"

Kaede and Hayato ran over. When they saw Shijou Anri, they paused in surprise. "Who are you?"

"Suzu, why are you with her?"

"Do you two know each other?"

"Suzu is my sister."

The silver-haired girl wasn't surprised. The two girls looked almost identical. Rare twins like them had to be sisters.

However, Suzu suddenly spoke. "Sister? I don't know you."

Kaede and Hayato were both stunned.

Shijou Anri sighed. "So it's memory loss..."

"It seems that guy's ability is related to memories."

"Suzu! What are you talking about? I'm Kaede, your older sister! Have you forgotten me?"

"Older sister?"

Suzu's reaction didn't seem fake.

Kaede repeatedly asked her sister various questions. She soon discovered that Suzu had not only forgotten her, but had forgotten many other things as well. She didn't even remember which class she belonged to.

What... happened?

"This is a dangerous ability."

Shijou Anri touched the card in her pocket. It was the Good Friend Communication Card.

This ability was simply too dangerous. If she hadn't possessed the gift Kazuma had given her, she might have ended up like Suzu.

...Wait.

Something wasn't right. The Communication Card hadn't activated just now.

Shijou Anri knew that if it were effective, it would emit light and heat—but it didn't. In other words… did I block that person's power myself? Was it because of evolution?

After evolving, there had also been a tremendous transformation in her mental state! But now wasn't the time to think about that.

"She's been controlled by someone. It's some kind of strange power, so you all need to be careful," Shijou Anri said calmly. "But there is someone who can save her, so don't worry."

"Really?" Kaede tightly held her sister's hand. Suzu had risked her life to save her before, and now seeing her like this made Kaede just as anxious—almost to the point of tears.

Hayato, standing nearby, was equally nervous, though not as flustered as before. He wanted to take this chance to show her his reliability. But why did Suzu's appearance feel strangely familiar?

"May I ask who you are?"

"Shijou Anri, Class B, first year," the girl introduced herself simply. "I happened to run into her here just now… Although I can't undo it, if it's Kazuma, he should be able to… "

"Kazuma?!"

Kaede exclaimed, and Hayato beside her widened his eyes.

"Hmm? You know Kazuma?"

"I… you…" Kaede slapped her forehead. "I was too anxious! Right, if it's him, he can definitely save Suzu. Let's go find Kazuma-kun now!!"

It was like grabbing a lifeline, like finding a protective charm. Hearing Kazuma's name, Kaede's panic eased, as if comfort had washed over her soul. She noticed that just hearing his name was enough to calm her.

Seeing how much Kaede trusted that person, a trace of jealousy began to swell inside Hayato.

"Kaede!" Suddenly, Hayato grabbed her. "You can't go!"

"Huh?"

"I sensed something was wrong earlier, and now I realize—it was all staged by him," Hayato said grimly. "The abnormality of Suzu was his doing!"

Shijou Anri's gaze gradually turned cold.

"Kaede, have you forgotten what happened before…? In the end, the only person in this school with such strange abilities is him. The one who turned Suzu into this state can't be anyone else!"

Kaede froze for a moment. Right… Kazuma also has the ability to make people forget. Why didn't I think of him sooner? She felt a bit dizzy, but quickly steadied her expression and composed herself.

"It wasn't Kazuma who did it."

Just as Hayato wore a "I've seen through everything" expression, he was interrupted by her calm voice. His face instantly turned deep red, and he stared at her in disbelief. "Kaede, what are you saying? You experienced it yourself—why are you still defending him?!"

The proud blue-haired girl pressed her lips together. She had no proof, only intuition. "I've been in contact with Kazuma these past few days. Although he sometimes plays tricks, he wouldn't go this far. This definitely wasn't him."

Shijou Anri's expression softened slightly.

At this point, Hayato, already overwhelmed by jealousy, could no longer hold back. "You've been completely bewitched by him, Kaede! Wake up! I've long been against you getting close to him. Don't you understand how dangerous this is?"

"Everything that happened these past few days—isn't it all his fault? If it weren't for him, we wouldn't have run into that assassin. If it weren't for him, we wouldn't be ignoring each other for days. Now Suzu has been hurt like this, and you're still going to find that Kazuma?!"

He roared, "It must be him! He used that evil power to hurt Suzu! If you go to him now, you'll end up like Suzu too!!"

Shijou Anri frowned deeply. Even she felt the urge to punch him. Although she wasn't as close to Kazuma as Rurikawa Tsubaki and the others, she still felt grateful to him.

Especially now that he had given her mysterious powers—hearing someone insult him almost made her lose control.

"This guy!!"

But someone was faster.

Kaede—the blue-haired girl, Hayato's childhood friend and the girl he loved—stepped forward in an instant.

Slap!

A crisp slap echoed.

Silence fell instantly… everyone froze.

Hayato stared in disbelief, his cheek burning. "Kaede… you…"

Kaede looked at him with a complicated expression. Her gaze gradually turned cold. The fragile bond that had almost been repaired was now completely shattered.

"I don't want you to slander him."

"He wouldn't do something like that. I believe him… Let's go find Kazuma-kun now."

The last sentence was directed at Shijou Anri.

Hayato stared at Kaede in shock, unable to believe she had hit him. First Suzu, now Kaede. Combined with the cold tone of the girl he liked and her firm decision to leave, something inside him broke—he was pushed toward madness.

"Are you crazy?! Are you insane?! We're childhood friends! Why do you trust a stranger over me?! Didn't you feel guilty last time I couldn't save you? This time I'm trying to help you, and you still don't believe me?!"

He shouted desperately, "Kaede! Come back! Come back!!"

Shijou Anri glanced at the devastated boy behind them, then at Kaede holding her sister's hand, her expression unreadable. "Childhood friends…"
